Lazard was successful in Green Bay because they used him a lot in the run game due to his blocking and then Rodger’s trusted him in the passing game. His blocking makes him a unique WR. Hopefully the jets use him like the Packers did now that Rodger’s is back.
I think Rodgers confidence in him and Rodgers presnap reads and passing ability were keys that you can’t ignore.

Jordy Nelson is not a perfect example because he was aging as well… but AR and Nelson had a unique connection, and when Nelson left his production dropped significantly. Lazard was not the same, but it was similar in that AR knew that they were on the same page and would go off script and get easy completions because they would both see the same hole in the def.

This is a huge part of Rodgers game. He didn’t need the most talented WR but if you were not on the same page reading def, etc, you did not get the ball. If you were, AR threw you open or got you open pre snap in many cases.

Without AR, Lazards ability to read a def was eliminated since the jets QBs were not at ARs level when it comes to pre snap reads and adjustments. So, based on athletic ability alone, Lazard is not top of the NFL WR rankings. Lots more value with Rodgers than without (imho).

For whatever reason, I've found that in the NFL, I'm happy to cheer for the Iowa State players vs. the team I claim to like (Vikings). I'm a full on 49er's fan now and will cheer for any Iowa State player over the Vikings (i.e. I was not sad when the Packers beat the Vikings when Lazard was playing for them.)

That's different than the NBA because I hated the Bulls no matter who played for the them (Fizer, Willoughby, Hoiberg, etc).
Ditto. I've been a Dolphins fan for a long long time, but I will cheer for Breece, Brock, any former ISU player against Miami every time.

All this connection and ability didn’t help get us through 49ers when he throws into triple coverage to Adams with Lazard and St. Brown both wide open.
