I think 149 is an easier path to AA than 141 & 157 is easier path to a title than 165
Agreed about this, but not sure who our better option is to take that spot. I think Parker is probably a better wrestler than Degen, and will likely beat him head to head, but for some reason I feel like Degen is the one who will perform better at NCAAs.

Looks to me like Parker is bigger & maybe a big weight cut will be harder on the health of his body.

141 has Yianni, N Lee, Eierman, Demas
149 has Sasso

I think all of them but Demas will be difficult matches for Parker to win

What's chances Degen can make 41? I thought I've heard in the past he makes weight easier than the average 49, but looking at him it's hard to think he has much more to cut.

149 doesn't look near as strong on the top end as 141, assume these guys are all at the right weight. Flo has Parker & Gomez at 141 & both are 149

I guess I'm one of the few that would like to see Carr move up. He's said in the past he hates cutting weight and would likely move up sometime during his career. Supposedly Austin O'Conner is moving up from 149 so 157 gets tougher. I also think David is WAY too quick for Marinelli. Griffith could pose a problem, but David has beaten him in the past. And obviously, it makes the team way better to keep Parker and Degen in the lineup.

Interestingly Flo has Makhi Lewis, Hayden Hidley and Ethan Smith all at 174.

I don't know, but I assume Carr gets to stay at 157 as long as he wants to. But if he wanted to go up, he would do fine.

I agree with you. I have felt he would benefit by filling out his frame and increasing his horsepower for a while.

That’s not the direction I’d go but I guess Scotti Sentes made 133.

Both have been hampered with injuries. Maybe going 149 is in Parker’s best interest in order to stay healthy

Isn't Parker a supersenior? In that context, six years is a long time to stay small. My fear is that he cannot compete with the bigger framed guys that are sucking down to 149. Similarly, moving to 157 would possibly negate Degen's entire game, as his length advantage would dissipate.

I'm not at all for starving wrestlers. But I'm also not for our wrestlers being undersized relative to the competition. Its a hard balance -- and I'm not convinced this staff is very good at it.

The debate on whether or not to cut down to a lower weight (assuming your the best guy at the higher & lower weights) is always a coin flip for me. There are tons of examples on both sides. Some guys have more success wrestling closer to their natural weight and others that have success in cutting down a lot (like Matt McDonough). I'm sure that we are all hoping that ALL of our guys are healthy for the whole year. Here's my projected "best" lineup:
125 - Hawaii (or Knopick)
133 - Redding (or the Russian & Redding redshirts)
141 - Parker
149 - Degen (Cam redshirts)
157 - Carr
165 - Schumacher
174 - Devine/Broderson/Fisher winner
197 - Cuban
Hwt - Transfer (Schuyler)
