German shooting guard Lucca Staiger, meanwhile, said he'll stay at the school no matter the outcome of an appeal of an NCAA decision that he must sit out this year.

"I really like it here," Staiger told The Des Moines Register today. "The coaches and fans have been great to me. I want to stay here and get an education."

Staiger told McDermott of his intentions Monday.

"I'm thrilled that he's staying," McDermott said

I don't know what to do. I'm not used to NOT getting screwed over. Lucca had every reason in the world to leave and no one would have gotten upset the way the NCAA treated him.

Maybe he said that because he was told he could play.....ahhh wishful thinking.

Not that it will factor into the NCAA's decision, maybe he should have held this news until after they made their decision on whether he's eligible this year or not. I guess this also tells the committee that he is serious about getting an education in the United States!

The NCAA doesn't give a rat's *** about his education. They don't give a rat's *** about anything except making money and they've proven that over and over again.

God bless this man. I've had a pretty bad day today and this just gives me a big lift. I really wish the best for Lucca because it has to be hard to stomach what's happening with the NCAA.

He seems like a guy of good morals, this is the type of player we need to be a great role model for the young kids that will be coming in year after year. He might not have a presences on the court, but he has and excellent one with the Cyclone fan base and university.

The only reason why I can think he wouldn't have good court presence is he hasn't actually been on the court yet...

Man, this really just made my day. I'm not gonna lie, upon reading this, my eyes actually started to tear up a bit.

Thank you, Lucca. Thank you.
