Sunrise Academy is a basketball "factory" in that players come from all over, primarily to play basketball. Many of them are foreign. The following roster lists their elite team, but does not include Marvin, as he must have joined later or whatever. Any idea where he is originally from? In other words, where is "close to home"?

Maroon Team (Elite) Schedule

He's from Kansas City...

September article but still some good stuff.

Sunrise Christian's Marvin Clark is becoming hot commodity - CityLeagueHoops | CityLeagueHoops

He's a guy who I think can be a fan favorite and big time player for us. And I love that he's flying under the radar. There's gonna be people in a couple of years saying how'd we miss this kid? He seems to have really improved from playing in the EYBL last summer and is putting up big time numbers, especially with the level of competition he goes up against including the guys on his own team.

Can play the 2-4 but prefers the wing. Strong, physical, athletic, can shoot the 3 + get to the rim, and boards really well. Seems like a PERFECT fit for a Fred Hoiberg managed team. Should be priority #1 IMO. A plus for RV committing earlier than expected is that the staff can focus their attention onto this guy and others instead of wasting their time with Vaughn. So in that sense, thanks Rashad. Could turn out to be a blessing.

True story. If he is looking for a consistently "good" crowd he won't find it at K-State. There are 2 consistently good crowds in the Big XII and those are Kansas and Iowa State.

dont forget tcu. they have impressive crowds

He is flying under the radar because he was injured (broken foot?) last summer. He didn't get the exposure other players got.

Unfortunately we may end up runner up again.

If that does happen though, I'm not too worried. I have accepted and embraced the Transfer U label. Give me another stud to sit a year, and one graduated 5th year senior that can be an immediate impact and I'll smile all the way to the bank.

Here comes the heavy hitters. The fact he wants to stay close to home is a plus. Hopefully it's a 'I want to be close, but not too close' situation. AKA.. I want out of KC and a 3 and 1/2 hour drive to Ames and back is perfect distance

Bump. About 2 weeks til he makes his decision and I really want this kid in cardinal and gold. He could be a very special player for us. (Ejimish)

His twitter handle is Marv_Time15 if anyone wants to show him some love. He's shouted us out already once on twitter saying he really appreciates all the love cyclONEnation has shown him. Here's to hoping we land him!

A story not unlike Daniel Edozie. thanks for the link. I believe Fred and Ames would be very good for Marvin so I hope he becomes a Cyclone if he has the opportunity.

Perhaps you haven't noticed, but mjhavlo is probably the most pessimistic poster on here.

isuno1fan begs to differ. Although you're right that mjhavlo seems to lean towards the pessimistic side. I'm not really sure what rationalization there is to think that ISU doesn't have that good of a shot. At worst I'd say it's 50-50 with us and KSU but I think our odds are actually quite a bit better than that. And before someone points to his court rushing, who cares? He was there with the rest of his high school team and they all rushed. Who wouldn't wanna have fun at center court regardless of where he was leaning collegiately. Besides, that was Clark's second visit to KSU, which means that he named Iowa State his leader (direct quote from him) after already taking in a game in Manhattan.
