Congrats to former #stjbb manager Matt Abdelmassih @mabde who will be named Thursday as an assistant coach under Fred Hoiberg at Iowa State

Chris brought up his name before, if true I like this hire because he'll actually be able to get out and recruit New York for us where he has a lot of connections.

If you don't think this is a good hire, you are off your meds. Some of the best players to wear the Cardinal and Gold came from the east coast and since Morgan's departure, we haven't exactly had a pipeline there. Matt will be able to recruit now that he is an assistant.

How does this make any sense? He's never coached, as he? He was a student manager at St. John's.
Doesn't Fred need someone who has basketball experience via playing or coaching?

The only problem is that he is an extremely green coach. TJ and Fred can recruit. They've shown that. Lutz brought a lot to the coaching aspect and adding Matt adds basically nothing coaching-wise to a head coach with only 1 year under his belt. Who is Fred going to learn from? I'm not a fan.

Who says he won't get that guy with the other assistant opening?

Come on now. It's far more fun to meltdown and act irrational.

My hope for the other spot is Jim Boylen, but somebody else with that amount of experience would work too.

You realize there is another assistant opening, don't you? McRoy didn't do any coaching either.

To reiterate the point made earlier, this assistant replaces McRoy, not Lutz.

Lutz's replacement will be a guy with lots of coaching experience. He will replace Lutz.

BTW does anybody know what McRoy ever did other than being in DeMarcus Phillups?
