How many coaches have EVER agreed to a $1M pay cut to increase salaries for the staff and players coming off of a season where the team set a school record for most wins ever, has put more players in the NFL than any prior coach in the school’s history, and hasn’t been involved in any scandal that forced a pay cut? Incredible and so great to have a person like him as a leader for Iowa State both on and off the field!!

Someone on twitter posted that you are lucky to find a coach who is good or who is cheap or who wants to stay at a school. And we've found all 3. There isn't a coach in the Big 12 that I'd trade him for. And there are maybe 5 coaches that I'd think were a somewhat equal trade for him in all of college football.

This is why we've got to go all-in on football right now. The chances of us hitting another home run with a hire are not great (and they wouldn't be great for ANY school, not just us).

Got to personally meet Matt this Spring at an event, the guy is everything we have ever hoped for. One of the most down to earth coaches in a time of “look at me” as you will find. So happy to have this man as our coach!

Greatly underpaid for what he has accomplished at ISU, if we could afford it, he should be paid twice what we are. He seems happy, and he gets to call his own shots, which means a lot. No one is looking for his shoulder and he is not going to get fired if he has a 3 win season.

I have two stories with my nephews. A few years ago my nephew was wearing his Spiderman costume when the team was getting ready to get on the bus for a game. He took the time to talk to my nephew (who was young enough not to know who he was) about his favorite super hero. And last year at the Cyclone Tailgate my other nephew who is 3, just LAUNCHED himself into Campbell for a full-on hug like only a 3 year old can. As my mom said, he must be a good guy to be that good with kids.

5 million is a lot of cash, but he is giving us a break and sharing the wealth with his staff and team.
