It's really a shame... he's been talked about at OSU since his visit. They've been focusing on Swanson Miller and a few others. Everyone here was really excited to land him, and they didn't even mention he was close to a decision.

That's alright, we needed the kicker out of Johnston worse anyway so we are batting 500 on the day. Gene will find a suitable replacement.

Can you say Blair Irvin...Blairs looking for a home and were looking for quality at the db position....

Hopefully this persuades Johnson or Benton to come to the good guys.....

They may have been awaiting that decision....fearing sittin waiting for playing time....

Kudos to OSU, they got both Gray and Miller today...wow thats a statement....2-4* recruits today.....

Wasn't CR saying last night when Guyer committed that there was a chance that there was another? Has that died down, or is there still speculation?

ehhh...not surprised. I'm sure we put on the full court press but hard to compete with everything OSU has to offer these days. On to the next one!

Don't forget the "we pulled his scholarship offer weeks ago"! Both common themes amongst Hawkeye fans.

simply lol on both those quotes. i can't believe how many times ive heard that from hawk fans.

well, you can't win them all - sooooooo, who is the next guy we are looking about/going to talk about until commit time?

probably david bedford-4 star juco defensive end. i think we were pretty high on his list for a while, but then he cooled when he saw we had 3 de commits already, but then dj marshall decommitted to ku and i think that leaves the door open for him.

The more i think about this, the more i get disappointed....This should have been our guy...we had everything to offer. The last visit three days before signing day, playing time, Chizik....it was set up perfect except the ghost town effect....This has to be a major let down for our recruiting from the staffs position.

I mean we're only tracking 9-4* athletes to begin with, and each one that goes somewhere else is and should be a major let down.

I understand the comment that this university or that university has this or that, but, ultimately, we need to be able to sell these young men that this is the place that they can come and evolve their game to the next level. Winning helps i know that but, its a major let down when a guy SHOULD be ours when its down to us and one other and we can guarantee starting time and they could see that with our results.....that alone to a JC is the most important thing.....winning second...But having Chizik gave me that false sense of security that we would be bringing in these type of athletes when were recruiting him because of Chiziks past results.....

And i cannot blame everything on the win/loss record in recruiting because minnesota only had one win and they have a top 20 recruiting class.....thats recruiting....

I'm just let down by this and our recent defections to no less then our competitors...we could be talking 3-4 quality kids that at one time wanted to spend their college at ISU and now their elsewhere.....

Is it just me? I will rebound, and i hope our recruiting does too, but this one hurts.....

i agree-this one stings a little. i didn't get my hopes up too much because, well because i guess i am getting used to being letdown. i too thought we had a great shot at getting this guy, but i wouldn't let myself believe it for fear of the letdown that would have followed. hopefully though, we can gett benton in here for 4 years-to me that would be a lot better get then a 2 year player like gray. sure he would have probably made an immediate impact, but when you are talking about a 4 star juco vs. a 3 star hs kid, i will take the high schooler everytime

Agreed, i'm basing what we've all seen down in Lawrence, lets face it, if fat boy dont win this year hes gone like Terry Allen...

But, with the success and pub of this year, they're recruiting is really strong - like 3* kids across the board...thats a good class....the impact of a few TALENTED JUCO's could provide immediate results while Chiz's HS kids work through the system and develop the foundation for sustained success i agree with you..the key is HS kids for long term success. But, that success in our conference is so tough, i just hope our fan base and support endures that transition....Our stadium full of fans this year rocked...will year two have the same momentum if the recruiting class is last in the big 12 and rated as 70 or below....

Okay ISU BET...heres a question for you....Signing day for Jucos is tomorrow, what about Transfers....One way to cheer me up, tell me that Bo Williams is signing tomorrow and i will be happy.....
