Chizik is now 5-0 at Auburn and the team looks well coached
We now have our 4th OC that cannot figure out how to get this team to score, 2 of them were highly reguareded.
Time and time again ISU finds new way to lose FB games.
Just when you think things are going well, your best players go down, some lost of the season.

I don't believe in luck, so it must be something else. We've found new and devastating ways to lose games through the years, but odds are that things will turn in our favor eventually. There's no question in my mind that Coach will turn it around and get us back on solid ground.

Perhaps we will never be a consistent 9 to 10 game winner, but I think it is very realistic to get to 3 bowls every 4 or 5 years.

I think we try to invent new ways to lose games every week.

I'm a Bengals fan. They pulled a new one out in Week One against the Broncos. With 28 seconds left, they allowed Orton to throw up a bomb. It got tipped and the Broncos receiver caught it and ran it in for a TD.

I thought I've seen it all, but once again I was wrong.

Do you remember '99? Bengals played the Rams week 4 or 5 for the dubious distinction of the loser being the losingest team of the '90s. Warner went off on the Bengals and the Rams went on to win the Super Bowl. The Bengals.... Uhhh.... yeah....

1st.....Cheesedick hired his friends and recruited some players...emphasis on some. When he went to Auburn did his staff go with him? HELL NO. Now we have Rhodes, give him time to get this screwed up crap that cheesedick brought here. We are already doing better than last two years.

2. Auburn has a great NAME for players.... we need to do what we are doing....build and learn this system....its working, we have some of cheesedicks players still coming here. Let Rhodes get this going.....I would rather be 3-2 than 2-3 and not win another game. We at least have a chance to win more....

We have a 3-2 record with a first year head coach, and our offense hasn't been that great. Just think how good we will be when our offense starts clicking. The only time our offense has actually looked pretty good was the first half against Kent State. I'd be happy with 5 wins this year.

I think that we're a lot closer to "if" the offense starts clicking than "when". Unless we miraculously have a new QB and new WRs coming in, I don't see anything changing.

I'm a Rams fan too. At least they had their one good year. And another couple of decent years to go with it. Yeah, they suck now, but I'll take that superbowl win over anything the Bengals (or many NFL teams) have.

I'm still waiting for ISU's great year.

Didn't the Bengals lose a game a few years back in almost the exact same way the Cyclones lost today? I swear one time they scored a last second touchdown and then missed the extra point that would have tied it. I think it was the Bengals.

Stupid thread.

The problem was the state that McCarney left the program in. The only redeeming factor being that he left it better than he got it.

Talent makews coaches look better--and lack thereof makes them look worse.

Pretty sure that was the Saints. They made a miracle comeback and the XP to tie the game was a total shank job. I am talking like a Culbertson to win the North Title vs. Missouri shank.

And here you go....

Did you see next years schedule?

If we can't make a Bowl this, we won't make one next year.

2010 non-conference (Utah and at Iowa), we would be very lucky to start. Plus we add Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas Tech (0-3).

As Chizil-**** says "Iowa State has a very slim margin for error" and we lost it vs KSU.

After watching this train wreck of a football program, one has to conclude that barring an influx of mega bucks that ISU will remain a last place-low budget loser in the big 12 conference.

Late in the game before the fumbles they had a shot of Bill Snyder patiently waiting for the clones to make a mistake/mistakes so that he could win another game...

Two fumbles and a blocked kick later KState had won another game from Iowa State...

I have always wondered how things would had went if another one of our non descript AD's would have hired Bill Snyder instead of Jim everythings a joke including himself Walden.

Hayden Fry tried to get ISU to hire Snyder but ISU passed and Snyder buillt KState into a winner my friends a winner!!!!

KState is still a winner and we at Iowa State continue to be a low budget loser in the big 12 conference!!!

I can just see the fat boy in Lawrence licking his chops waiting for the next fumbles/pass interceptions or blocked kick so he can also put ISU in its place!!!!

Things havent changed one bit in Ames Ia in the last 50 years and our legacy of losing just lives on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I absolutely hate all this woe is me BS! 50 years? Did you miss the mid to late 70s? ISU was a solid program in a very tough conference back then.

The bottom line is that we need to find a HC that is a program builder...hopefully one that once he lays the groundwork can not only build it up but then get us over the hump.

As for Chizik, he clearly has learned from prior mistakes...Malzahn was a great hire and he is very involved in the defense at AU which is his specialty. But don't get too far ahead of yourself...AU was 4-1 last year under Tuberville at this point...they still have to play LSU, Alabama, Ole Miss, etc. It will be interesting to see how long it is before Malzahn is a head coach...he gets more airtime as the OC than Chizik does as the HC.
