Week after week, he just gets better and hungrier to dominate. Post play, run-da-floor, move without the ball, strong defense, bull-**** swatter, rebounding.

He's doing it all with his length, speed, athleticism and most of all - his excellent motor.

Just bringing it every single night.

So put McKay in terms of the best centers in ISU history.....I know it is early, but I think we can clearly see he is doing things we have not seen since Kelvin (Mt.) Kato. One thing he does and does not get stats for is altering shots....He may not get a block recorded but you can see the offensive player, twist, turn, adjust to get a shot off close to the rim often resulting in a missed shot. That is as good as a blocked shot.

The centers that would be in recent Cyclone history:

Loren Meyer
Paul Shirley
Jared Homan
Klay Edwards
Craig Brackens

I am reaching here.....Not even sure if some of those guys played the center position.

The one beef I have with him is he needs to quit forcing crap when he catches the ball by the basket and gets double teamed. Pass it back out instead of forcing terrible looking shot.

He would be devastating if he passed out of those double teams.

Did anybody else see Gipson get so frustrated with McKay's constant great rebounding position that he bear hugged McKay from behind and tried to throw him to the ground late in the game?

Here nor there
Is he still injured? He is playing incredibly well if he is.

Hopefully his solid play continues. It is crazy to think he did not have any time to "work on his game" after so long off against the weaker non-conference teams.

If he keeps this up, he may be a lottery pick this year. He's what the NBA likes to draft: long, fast, athletic, skilled. I hope not. Monte seems to be improving exponentially each game. I've read that he has said he wants to jump to the NBA after 2 seasons. These two are the ones I see as potentially leaving after this year.

But, I'm enjoying this season so best to leave speculations way in the back of my mind where they belong.

Good point. McKay blocks out better than anyone else on the team. If you watch him, he looks for his man and puts a body on his as soon as a shot goes up. Watch Hogue, however, and you see him turn his head toward the basket as soon as the shot goes up. Fred has commented on this as an area for team improvement which we need to do more than other teams due to our shorter size.

Gahd. I love the energy of Hogue and Mckay. It doesn't matter what team, what venue, or what score. They play the same intensity. Thank you Indian Hills. Mckay got fooled and jumped early twice but overall he was a huge force on both ends. At the end of the game they showed three blocks for mckay. I'm pretty sure he also forced more than than 3 airballs as well. And it cracks me up how Mckay is smiling all the time.

I think the recent play of McKay has some users drunk on McKool-Aid. McKay is great and a very VERY important part to this team. However, I really REALLY doubt he goes as a lottery pick this year.

Concerning Morris, I know that when he was recruited he said he wanted to leave after 2 seasons, however I also read this year that he fully anticipates coming back next year. Which I think would be the smart decision. The guys trust in Fred wholeheartedly, and I have ZERO doubt that he has their best interests at heart. Which is why I think Hoiberg would advise all of his players to wait around another year. It is in their best interest, in my opinion. Hoiberg, with his previous NBA time in the front office, knows EXACTLY what NBA teams are looking for. He will know when one of his players is ready to go early and I believe he will advise them as such.
