Who else got annoyed with the media timeout overload at the end of the 1st Q and start of 2nd Q?

Media TO during the review with 5 seconds left. End of Q media TO. Then there was a media TO during an injury, after a TD, and when someone called timeout within the 1st 4 minutes of the 2nd. It made that 5 minute stretch so annoying.

Also, did anyone see the head ref and the "timeout guy" (in the red coat) get into some sort of a debate late in the 1st? It was like the ref wanted a media timeout but they kept telling him to keep going. Strange...yeah, I'm weird and notice these things.

What stuck out to me last night is when a KSU player was injured and right after he got up to walk off the field they went to commercial. Once they went to commercial the game quickly came back on right at the end of the play that proceeded the injury.

The timeouts were very annoying. We went like 10 minutes once with like two plays ran.

I also saw the ref and the timeout guy get into a heated discussion with some animated gesturing going on. I couldn't tell what it was about.

Can't recall if it was first or third quarter because there was a review with like 2 seconds left, it took forever and then they said to put 5 seconds back up. Then it went to break.

I feel like there is a timeline that if a game is progressing to fast they slow it up. Like the Baylor game it was touchdown extra point media timeout, kickoff media timeout, in the first half as the game was flying. Then after the fight it went back to just td media timeout. So I'm not sure if they have a schedule to keep the game at a snail's pace or not

There are a set number of timeouts per quarter, as part of the TV contracts. Fewer possessions per quarter means they have to put the breaks in odd places, such as PAT - TO - KO - TO.

Not positive but I think some of the stuff at the end of the first quarter / beginning of second quarter may have been related to the AZ-ASU game that ran long, and FS1 switching from that broadcast to ISU-KSU. I didn't have a way to watch the secondary broadcast on Fox Business so had AZ-ASU on TV muted and listened to the beginning of the game on the radio. I believe John/Eric made a comment regarding media timeouts right around the time FS1 switched to the ISU game. Perhaps FS1 was on a different commercial schedule that Fox Business, they skipped some commercials to try to get the AZ game finished, or just wanted to switch during a break for technical reasons or to allow the broadcasters a chance to intro the game. My recollection is the TV broadcasters pretty much went straight into the action once the game was live on FS1.

My guess was that there was a miscommunication on what signal was given. From what I recall they had been in a media timeout and thought they received the signals to get play ready but that was apparently not the case so the white hat and one other ran down there to discuss it. If @brentblum is around he might be able to shed some light on it.
