I've heard through multiple avenues that Melvin Ejim has showed up on campus in great shape and is really turning some heads. I also heard that about his performance in the Capital City League last Wednesday. Nothing earth shattering here but thought I'd pass this along.

If you were a freshman looking to potentially be THE star for all four years this would be a pretty good situation to step into. Nice to see that he's stepping up to that challenge.

THAT'S AWESOME NEWS!!!! hopefully he comes in stronger... we need some strength in our guards take some bumps and can streak to the hoop, hopefully in the future we start to recruit thicker guys.

Certainly don't want to get the hype train rolling, but I came away pretty impressed after watching Ejim the other night.

He did look in very good shape and the people who complain about our recruits being too skinny in the past (DG, Taggart, AO), certainly won't have any complaints with Ejim's physique.

Can't wait to actually see him in live-game action.

I hope that we can continue to get players out of brewster because all of them have turned out pretty well

Isn't the only player from Brewster that we have seen come through and play here Brackins? Or am I wrong

Pretty sure Brack is the only one. There were a few in his class that we recruited also (Stinnett and some other dude).

While I am excited about this kid let's not annoit him as the next star here yet. All we need to do is look at last season with Colvin so see how sometimes we can get too worked up over potential and put high expectations on someone before they even play a game.

I think Colvin would of thrived in an up-tempo system

I thought Colvin did pretty darn well for his first season in a slow down system even after being promised an up-tempo style of play. Can't wait to see Ejim.

All I'm saying is until the kid plays let's not get carried away too much. We've had our fair share of Ricky Morgan's and Shawn Taggart's just as we have our Craig Brackins' too.

let's keep in mind, Ejim wasn't all that highly rated of a recruit. Neither Scout or Rivals had him as a top 150 player. He may have the potential to be better than that, so let's hope he's ready to step up to the challenge of Big12 basketball.

True, but Ejim also seems to be a well-rounded guy and looks to have a high basketball IQ. Seeing that he was the NH Gatorade player of the year (which is based on some combination of grades, athletic ability & community svc) makes me more excited to see him on the court, because I think he'll be more than just a good athlete. He should be intellegent with the ball as well, which should help him as a freshman.
