look at Auburn with Broome. I know thats a smaller timeframe injury but still an injury

it could be worse for us, for sure
If it's an injury he can come back from this season, it's not that bad. So much of a teams' March Madness success relies on just having players healthy at the right time. Better to lose a guy now and hopefully have him available in March, even if it hurts out seeding a little.

Armchair coaching guess that's probably way off:

Likely to see minor increase in minutes among the core unit, additional minutes in rotation for Heise, then maybe a little augment from Nojus ... perhaps there could be Nojus/Watson combo, but if you're trying to adjust for Milan offensively, Watson doesn't seem to fit as much (but does have more experience).

I hope not. What would Fran be able to gush about if he wasn’t a sixth man?

But seriously, as long as it doesn’t cause problems in the locker room I’d prefer to keep the rotation the same and have Jones still come off the bench. Put Watson or Nojus in the starting lineup. Jones still gets lots of minutes, so it isn’t like he isn’t seeing the floor.
It would be pretty awesome if TJ puts Watson into the starting lineup after all the early season hand wringing! Lol
This is part of the game. It's pretty rare to have all your contributing players make it through a full season completely healthy. Houston lost 1-2 key guys right before the NCAA tournament, then lost Jamal Shead during their Sweet 16 game and still almost won. Enough with the "woe is me" attitude.
I can't say I've read much, if any, "woe is me."

Better now than a month from now, if it is in fact an expected timeline of five weeks.

Teams are definitely going to pack the paint even more than they were before. I bet we see both Jones and Lipsey taking more 3s.

I'm full on expecting Nojus and Watson to come in and be Tinsley/Fizer level for a game and then just expect that to be the norm, maybe throw a fit about the staff not seeing it earlier like they aren't at practice evaluating all sorts of details every day.

I almost wonder if they move Heise to the starting lineup and keep letting CuJo be the 6th man spark. I am fine with either option.
That’s an interesting thought.
My guess is we see more Watson than Nojus. Being a true freshman going out there against Kansas for your first real mins is asking a lot

I think this is the answer. If this were a season long thing, then yes change up Jones’s role. But the goal is March. If he’s going to be back for that, don’t mess with the rotation and how you play Jones. Cause it works.

That’s true. I don’t wanna mess with the spark. Then if we do need depth- Watson can maybe fill that Heise defensive role or Nojus to provide a little offense depending on matchup.

I have no idea- maybe it’s a 7 man rotation unless there’s foul trouble or whatever

I don't think you mess with a good thing with CuJo. I'm fine with Heise starting.

This is where a piece like Watson is so valuable, assuming his foot is ok. Hasn't played much this year but has the experience and I'm guessing will fill right in for spot minutes without an issue.

I hope to heck it’s not true, but of the players to lose… he’s scored double digits once in conference play. It hurts to lose his 3PT% but the bottom line is you’ve already had to find ways to win without relying on him putting up big numbers. I’m not as concerned as others here about defenses suddenly being able to pack it in and stifle ISU’s offense. Jones is and has been far and away opponents’s biggest concern for a few weeks now, let’s not pretend everything was falling into place because Mom was pulling one guy into the corner

It would would be interesting to see if it makes other teams have to adjust to a true 3 guard lineup if CuJo starts.

If it doesn’t, I could see TJ switching it up game by game based on matchups for our defense.

if there was 1 player you told me we could lose to an injury and i'd feel OK about it, it would be Milan, tbh. MAYBE Jackson.. but his size is great.
I'm not so sure about that. Milan is a guy that other teams absolutely cannot leave alone on the perimeter, period. That opens up the lane for our other guys.

Don't get me wrong, I think our guys will find a way through it, but it definitely shrinks our margin for error is some of these big games. I really like what I've seen out of Nojus though, so I think he can help bridge the gap.

On the other hand, let's see how much some can withhold from melting down if this results in dropping a few more games.

I can see the 'well he hardly scored a lot of games so why would it make any difference!? TJ didn't prepare the team for this!' takes coming out when his box score doesn't tell the story.
I see what you did there
