I see Cuban carefully avoids the Texas issue...why wouldn't he just ask Texas to drop the Longhorn Network????

Rational words coming from Cuban for once. Smart business guy though. Big 12 higher ups should listen. Fools.

Cubans rationale kept the conference together last time, lets hope this is just a serious squable between OU and Texas and cooler heads will ultimately prevail. Seems the LHN Failed at least in the sense business wise from ESPN, Texas has to have some embrassment in the sense no one is picking it up...So OU Says look, end this LHN thing or rework it to make it a benefit to the conference and we stay, Texas says no, OU says Pac 12, Texas says ACC, OU says we're really going, not kidding this time, Texas says sure you are and have fun recruiting the West Coast , OU convinces 3 other members to go with them, Texas says oh crap maybe we actually have to do something. If the Pac 12 made sense, they would have done it last year. It all depends on what Texas says now on whatever OU's demands are to hold it together. Would seem a little foolish to fold it and have them both go to the Pac 12 when they both decided once before this was the place to be.

Texas just needs to show a little humility and pull this back together, seems impossible, but necessary to make good on what was already decided as the best option once.

The Cuban article is a very good take on the situation in my opinion. Hopefully, the powerhouse schools listen but if everything falls apart, I just pray we end up in a decent conference.

Newbie here, just ran across the site while researching this whole thing. An article posted at the NY Post confirms that TCU's move to the Big East made Iowa State the odd man out in the Mizzou, KU, KSU, ISU move to the Big East. They apparently have a 12 (football) and 20 (basketball) plan. Yikes.

Big East could add Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri - NYPOST.com

Yep. We're screwed I believe. I'm almost to the point where I'm just hoping that the MWC wants us?

There will be nothing like an ISU vs. Wyoming matchup in basketball.

If this happened, how much of an in-your-face would it be to all BCS schools if we won the Big 12 in basketball this year? **** all this ********, so tired of all of this.

If the Big 10 is interested in Maryland, you would think this is because they also want Missouri and want an even number of teams. Everyone wants even number of teams, the Big 10 schedule with 11 teams was hideous.

If armageddon is inevitable, I hope:

1. The Big 12 contractually remains and ISU gets a massive payout, which it can somehow offer as a bargaining chip to the Big East or even Big 10.

2. If ISU appears to be heading toward isolation, Bransted, Grassley, Harkin, and all of the reps raise absolute hell and blow the lid off of the NCAA, media, tax status, etc. (in fact, I would expect them to attempt to do all they can do)

3. If all else fails, somehow getting backdoored into the Big 10 due to need for adding 3 members would be a godsend and I would cry tears of joy.

It would be nothing at all. Basketball doesn't matter in all of this. This whole thing is driven by football and money.

Again I am not worried until I hear from the horses mouth if we are screwed or not. The media will say what they want, ( freedom of the press.) So many damn rumors which one do you believe? Me? none until Jamie says so, put faith into him he has gotten us this far to not let it go down the tubes. Go Cyclones, gear up for Iowa and kick their ***!!!!

Great end to your article. We know that because we dont bring anything financially to a conference, we will likely be left out of anything great. Thats ok. Nothing we can do about it. We all know ISU will be fine no matter where they play. Games will still be at Hilton/JTS.

I just hope the Big 12 implodes (as it is obviously just a matter of time) and we can all move on quickly.

Didn't confirm anything. They just drew a conclusion base on a biased opinion.

I disagree with this. Do Fred and Paul want to coach in the MWC? For a while, I suppose, and then they are a vapor trail.,
