The most telling stat of the Big 12 season is the second half performance. ISU was out scored 503 to 626, thats an average of 31.4 to 38.5. The only team in Big 12 play ISU out scored was Baylor at home. I think this stat shows both a lack of depth and some bad adjustments.

I would say a lack of enough weapons, and you burnt out the ones you had. Most of our guys are good, just the one's that are old aren't Big 12 type players, and the ones that are young are still getting use to the Big 12 type play. I don't think bad adjustments come into effect. Think about it, teams got wise who was the hot shooter that night besides Brackins, and shut down that guy as well during the second half. Next year we will be able to spread out some more, and cause the defense to work harder against us.

I don't believe it is possible to reflect on an entire season until it is over.

Well hmm last time i checked the season for us was over. I'd say it was more a conditioning factor IMO. But i really dont feel like discussing the seasons ups and mostly downs for the 100th time.

Once again how can one reflect on an entire season until its over. If you don't want to discuss this then don't. I think this is an important stat.

Well it's over for us isn't it? Or did I miss something?

I guess we need to use the same logic on reflecting on good seasons. Once the Iowa State women win the National Championship this season, should we look at the reasons why they won it? I think so. However, last season did suck and there are many reasons why. It's not horrible to talk about last season's problems, even though they bring back horrible memories.

exactly what i stated earlier.

I agree with the conditioning comments. We just weren't deep enough to compete for 40 minutes. It's pick your poison really...either put in bench players early to rest the starters (and let the game get away from you) or keep it close for a half and get out-run down the stretch.

We were also a one trick pony. Doesn't take a Big 12 coach long at half-time to figure out how to contain Brackins and therefore our entire gameplan.

I highly doubt our issues in the second half of basketball games was a conditioning issue. I never thought our guys looked exhausted or drained out there. We also played plenty deep into our bench to keep guys fresh.

I think it is more likely teams adjusting at halftime to shutdown our one consistent scoring threat...Brackins. There were several occasions he would dominate in the first half, the opposing team would make adjustments and he was invisible in the second half. This team simply needs more scoring threats and people who can dribble penetrate. That will fix our second half woes....not better conditioning.

That's an important issue.
I think part of the reason it happened was that teams didn't take us too seriously as an opponent.
We've been down for awhile and I don't think too many people got real jacked up to play us.
So they let us hang around.
And then, when they needed to put us away, they were able to do it.
Something happened anyway. It happened in too many games to not wonder what was going on.

This, and the lack of free throw attempts are what really buried us IMO. Good stats though, thanks.

the season is over, no need to rehash stats again.

This season may be over, true, but next year's starts now! And every stat needs to be analyzed and studied in order to know what improvements need to be made and where to make them. For a coach the season never ends.
