Too early. Motherday weekend is when they peak typically in NE Iowa.

Been dry too this spring which is not good for them.

May 5th is always the date. You'll find a few now, but another week or two they should be in their prime.

It is supposed to rain a bunch over the weekend and early next week, which is nice, but the temperatures will drop back into the lower-mid 60's. We would really need a few days of close to 80 degrees after the rain to get a nice crop to grow soon. Otherwise like others have said, give it another week or two.

Can't wait.
What do we expect the price per pound to be this year?
Will morels still be offered at local grocery stores, or has that been forbidden by the food Nazi's?

Well it's been a week. Anyone having any luck? I am considering going for a walk in the woods in a few minutes... anything to procrastinate more to not do homework.

I can confirm several in Iowa - Southwest Iowa to be exact near Shenandoah area. I have family that have been rubbing it in all week that they're finding them. I'm going down this weekend to give it a try!

Its been to cold and not enough sun yet. The ticks are out so soon you will get the magic shrooms.

Didn't see any around Ottumwa area yet the last 2 days. We have the moisture, we just need some heat units. Be patient, this weather has everything screwed up, especially the turkey hunting.

No no no no no. Dont tell me this. This is not what I want to hear as I am going down for Illinois 5th season a week from today after my last final.

Of course, my cousin has already whacked two, and it is way further south than Ottumwa, so hopefully it is going a tad better there.
