Since my bracket tanked the other night after getting so close to the $10,000 grand prize, I have now shifted my focus.

I am currently entered in ESPN's Streak for the Cash. You pick the winner of a game (or random things like "Which will be higher, Tom Brady's completions or Jets first downs?"), one at a time. If you have the longest "winning streak" for the month, you win $50,000. If you beat the "threshhold" (which is set by ESPN each month), you win the bonus prize of at least $50,000 (if nobody wins the bonus prize for the month, it rolls over for the next month. You can win up to $650,000 playing this game).

Not likely to win, but hey, it's free to play, and I'd love to find an easy way to pay off my student loans and get the Mustang that I've always wanted

Might have to give this a shot. With our first child expected to arrive this week, mortgage, college loans, auto loans, and season ticket renewals I feel kinda pinched. Been thinking of talking to that Nigerian Prince.

I figure it can't hurt. ESPN must have an ungodly amount of money that they don't use for anything, with all the money that they throw down as prizes for free fantasy games.

Playing their free fantasy games creates more site traffic which creates more revenue from advertising I'm guessing. And when you think about the over 4 million brackets entered in the Tournament Challenge, do you think you could sell a company an ad for thousands of dollars that will be seen by millions???

This is probably true. I don't know what kind of traffic Streak for the Cash gets, though. I don't think it would get the traffic of the bracket challenge. I mean if nobody wins the bonus prize all year, and then you have the longest streak in December, you automatically get the bonus prize ($650,000 in one pop).

True, looking at it though it is Streak For Cash sponsored by Progressive....I'm guessing they foot a lot of the bill

Good luck though. I used to be really into the Streak for Cash--it is quite addicting....if you are patient you can find some good value picks

Testifying
ESPN also gets a lot of money from cable companies. I think most networks are like 50 cents, under a dollar, while ESPN is $4 a month.
