Quick personal story about Royce....my wife who is also diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder among other mental struggles read the story about Royce and instantly wanted to meet him, so after the KU game last week, she forced me to hang around and try to see if he would come out of the locker room after the game so she could try to meet him. I reluctantly agreed, not wanting to bother him and not knowing what to expect so we waited with a crowd of several young kids who were getting autographs from some of the other players. Royce eventually came out of the tunnel and signed probably 50 autographs and took several pictures with every kid that came up to him, and then met my wife, listened to her story and talked to her for 3-4 minutes, took a picture and thanked her for coming to the game. He seemed incredibly genuine and humble for a guy who had just single handedly beaten the #5 team in the nation on national TV. He didn't have to talk to my wife or sign for all of the kids, but he did it all gladly with a smile on his face. I was truly impressed. Needless to say he is now my wife's favorite.

I am very impressed with the way he's become an advocate for awareness of anxiety disorder. It is a very mature, impressive way to deal with an issue like that.

If any NBA GM, as Gottlieb said, didn't draft him because of the anxiety disorder, well, shame on them.

As impressive as Royce has been on the court, his character is off the charts. Great guy, and I'm proud to call him a Cyclone.

Kid impresses me everytime I hear more about him. Gotta give it up to Fred. Sure knows how to handle these kids compared to some other coaches.

Great story shawn. On Tuesday before we played K State, I walked by Royce on campus and he was on his phone. I wanted to wish him luck but didn't want to interrupt but I ended up saying "Hey Royce. Good luck tonight." Even on the phone, he said "Thank you" in a very genuine matter and gave me a wave. I'm a big fan of Royce as a player and person.

It sure was nice of Royce to spend a little time chatting with you and your wife. It was also very nice of you and your wife to stay after the game and spend a few minutes sharing your wife's story and some time chatting with Royce. Royce is more then a basketball player and "we" (Cyclone fans) are more then just fans. It's those interactions on a more personal level that really make the CycloneNation and Cyclone athletes special.

I really love cheering for Royce, already one of my favorite Clones ever. Just a great story and great personality... and not bad at basketball either.

According to most Hawk fans, he's just a thug criminal that didn't deserve a second chance because he was destined for a life of crime. As if they and their friends/family are all perfect and have never needed a second chance on anything.
