They play it at every little league prior to the start of games. Also by not playing it does not make the game start any sooner.
Regardless of if they play it at "some" little league games, they don't play it before every sporting event. So why do we need it at all?

Local HS had a kid play it on a saxophone the last game. Kid stumbled once but did a good job otherwise. I commend anyone who performs it. I do recommend always having the lyrics if you sing it. Audi sang it at a game I was at once and it was a new rendition of it.
AD has had a couple of my boys go grab a trumpet before when the scratchy recording wouldn’t play, so they would have to get him to unlock the band room and play it in their basketball uniform. Then he asked my kid who played the sax and our version of the anthem, the sax doesn’t have the melody, so my son said no. He volunteered me to sing it. I think I had to do that four or five times before they changed the audio equipment in the gym. I hated it cause I didn’t want to humiliate my kids, but they seemed to think I did more embarrassing stuff than singing the anthem.

I feel very patriotic and proud of my country but I don't feel like the National Anthem affects it either way. I suppose if there's a really cool performance it's worth it. Otherwise, just get to the game.
It doesn't delay the game.

99 times out of 100 the anthem is completely forgettable. Its that 1 time during periods of national pride (The First Gulf War) or tragedy (9/11) that create transcendent moments where you realize you're part of something bigger than yourself. That makes the tradition worth keeping.

I knew guys that did not come back from Vietnam and by fate were drafted. One particularly. By the luck of a draw of a number out of a lottery, I received a very high number and knew I would not be drafted. I also know a NYFD member who ran up the Twin Towers & became dust. I always stand, take my hat off and shut up during the anthem. This is a wonderful country because “some gave all” and if I can respect that for one minute occasionally, I am glad to do it. What follows after the anthem is just entertainment.

Special events only. National team games/matches are a no-brainer. Super Bowl, championship games, bowl games.. ok.

It's not that it's played that I disagree with. It's that some think it's MANDITORY (or else) that I disagree with. Patriotism = good, Nationalism = bad. It's that simple.

I would also just throw in that just because you don’t think the national anthem should be played doesn’t mean you aren’t patriotic

But think of how unified the country would be if we all stood for the anthem at noon.

Have every radio station, TV station, business, etc play the anthem and we all cover our hearts in unison

In unison? So are we doing it at noon Eastern, Central, Mountain or Pacific? Does everyone in Hawaii have to get up by 7 am to stand with those in the Eastern time zone? What about Guam? Do they have to get up in the middle of the night to stand for the anthem?

Good point. Do it every hour that it becomes noon in the United States or U.S. territory. They say it’s good to get up from your desk about every hour. Now we’ll be doing that and with max patriotism

I like it, zero military background in my family, but I think of the military and vets when it is played. Otherwise, I never would outside of Vet's Day and 9/11.

And at Super Bowl 11 the National Anthem was 0 seconds long since it wasn't performed. Instead, America the Beautiful performed.
