Always liked him but I don't know that it changes much of how I feel about Saturday. We blew a team out and they remembered... I feel like more or less that's not uncommon.
Aside from the officiating, what frustrates me the most is that our guys aren't going to get any credit in the regard that West Virgina played an A game, possibly an A+ game at home. The best I can give ISU all the way around is a B probably more like a C+ or a B- and only that high considering we got big plays and answered on offense when we were against the ropes all game.
Both teams got some breaks, but WVU got the more important ones, and they needed every one of them to beat ISU in their building playing their best ball against a flat-footed ISU that was caught completely off guard and unprepared. That's how good this group at ISU is. The better team took the loss, period. And nobody is gonna say it, and even less people are going to listen or care. For our guys sake, I just wish I'd hear it stated plainly from the WVU side, that's all.
Maybe it's too much to ask after a big win from them, but I think it would really mean a lot considering this class will likely close out their careers quietly in relative obscurity now after that loss, and they deserve better than that. It hurts. It really hurts.

I wonder if our guys were overconfident going into this game. We blew them out the last 3 times we have played them, it was easy. I remember Neil Brown being disgusted with how they got physically manhandled last year. It was definitely a point of emphasis for them this year and they for sure played with more physicality. It was hard to watch, us getting physically abused like we did.
I hope Campbell was equally disgusted about it on Saturday
It's hard to argue this wasn't at least somewhat the case. I give WVU credit for just attacking speedy on repeat. Other teams have exposed him in the past, but then moved away from it later for whatever reason. I think that will be the blueprint the rest of the year for all of our opponents.
I totally get your sentiment and agree we should be very appreciative of what this team and players have done for ISU football.
That said, not sure I agree on giving them credit for the WVU game. We were very soft and got manhandled at every level. They deserve some criticism for that.
Right? With the talent this team has, the underperformances this season are confusing to say the least.
The problem is we lack talent in areas that WVU clearly took advantage of (DB’s in coverage, backup LB’s, OL to some degree).
I fully expect Texas to do the same. I cringe at our LB’s (without Rose) trying to tackle Bijan Robinson and our DB’s trying to cover their guys.
I'll say for Iowa and Baylor that they are both good teams, and those games were primarily lost because of special teams and turnovers. West Virginia is probably a 6-6/7-5 team at best, and they flat out dominated us physically. It was eye-opening.
So basically he's saying that it was their superbowl. Hmmm, seems like we are playing in a lot of superbowls lately.

I totally agree that its sad / unfortunate that this group will go out in relative - maybe not obscurity but not with a ton of fan fare but in a way...
its the cost of raising the bar. its a hard pill to swallow but if you raise the bar to where 7-5 isn't considered a great achievement but then go 7-5 - its tough.
And while I think Texas is beatable - I have zero confidence right now. Until last week I would have said I trusted the defense to keep us in the game and the offense would do enough but after last week, I'm still shook enough at the moment to where I think we'll beat Tech and TCU as they lack head coaches and lose to Oklahoma and Texas.
Cause I guarantee Texas will remember Breeces "players vs culture" comment and them losing at home last year.

What do you mean? Obviously the secondary has an awful day as well, but our O-line was beat consistently by their 3 man front, and our D-line could not get pressure like they have in previous games. Not to mention the missed tackles.
And yet, if not for the officials taking a dump we should be 38-38 in the 4th quarter. Doesn’t exactly scream “total physical domination” to me.

We gave up 500 yards and 38 points to a team that scored over 30 in one other game and that was Longwood (66-0).
They physically dominated us.
