Story Co.
Giorgos obviously has a lot of potential and Fred is just the man to take advantage of it. With the ability to run the floor like Tyler Zeller and shoot the 3 like Chris Bosh, opposing big men will have a hell of a time defending him. Developing his back to the basket game will be key and playing with and learning from Niang will be huge. It may take him some time to be ready to compete consistently in the Big 12 but he's got the tools to be a very good if not great player. The greatest thing about this commitment is we would be fine without him but the sky's the limit if he reaches his potential. Pretty awesome to be able to say an athletic 7 footer with a nice outside shot is just icing on the cake :)

Ya, him and Niang paired together would be very tough to stop. He would benefit from Niang's offensive game much the same way Ejim did this year, and Percy did with Royce two years ago. A 7-footer around the rim when the double comes to stop Niang could be deadly.

Confusing. So a poster earlier says he doubts this guy contributes much next year and another says he'd be surprised if he isn't a one and done. Huh? Which is it.....somewhere in between? Another has stated he's thin and a "project". Does a 'project' get to the NBA in one year? Or, are all of these just guesses?
If the kid walks in the door at 220 he'll contribute. If we put him in there at 200 during big 12 play he's gonna get shredded. Other big men will just bowl their way through him in the post. I think it all depends on how he physically matures in the next 6 months.

Well then you're going to be disappointed. The kid just turned 17? Most men aren't really there until at least 20 and big men take even longer.

That's why I don't think this kid is going to contribute a whole lot on the court this year. I have no doubt he'll be useful during practice in forcing over big men to shoot over a 7 footer. A completely different story when he gets to 220+. His skill set didn't need much more tuning. Him and Georges should become workout buddies.

There are ~4500 Div I college basketball players, but only about 90 of them are 7+ feet tall.

As I said much earlier in this thread, I'd rather take a 'prospect/project' that's 7' tall, than one who's 6'5".

The trade off is that some of the post players who are able to push him around might not be able to match up very well with him on the perimeter. I'm not counting on him going off LaFester style on a regular basis, but he appears to have the skill set needed to create as many mismatches as he runs into on the defensive end.

Length, quickness, and timing for shot blocking can also offset some of the issues with bulk and strength. A guy like Mikki Moore probably never won many hip checking battles at Nebraska or in his 500 plus games in the NBA, but he still contributed on defense with his ability to block shots.

If you search for him, there is a site that has a full recent game. Eurohoops, I think. Watched part of it and he had a few good inside moves, reverse layup, dunk and a three along with a couple blocks.

Well he can't be one and done because he's only 17, and you have to be 19.

And by the time he's 19, the rule could be 20.
Well I don't know why people keep saying he is barely 17. He was born in 96' (man makes me feel old) so is turning 18 next month. And would be eligible for the NBA after a season.

You mean people on CF are distorting facts to support their own conclusions!

You know how this overseas stuff can get confusing with the whole international date line thing...hard to keep track of.

He's actually 41. They froze him for 20+ years and loaded him up on hormones to keep him growing. The ice couldn't take it anymore, he wasn't supposed to play for ISU until 2023.

Can anybody post the videos all in one post? I watched one but I don't know if it is the first or second. Plus any links to the euro basket site?

2023? Is that when Fred leaves that we would desperately need him to play for us? If so, I'm burning down my house since you just started the rumor that Fred is leaving in 2023. Other Cyclone fans will start freaking out as well about him going in nine years.

I thnk that he could be a real matchup problem, and that may be why Fred got him. He is a good shooter from 3 point land. How do you match up with a 7'1" player behind the arc?
