sorry if this was already posted, but I didn't see it anywhere.

"Iowa State men's hoops would like to officially welcome John Lamb as a member of the team. A native of Indianola, Iowa, Lamb will join the Cyclones as a preferred walk-on. He was a INA First-Team All-State selection in 2007 at Indianola. He spent the last three seasons at Morehead State, making 55 career 3-pointers. Lamb will sit out this season as a redshirt and will be a redshirt senior in 2011-12."

good to see in-state kids wanting to play at Iowa State, not sure if he'll contribute too many minutes in 2011 with all the talent recently coming on board, but it fills out our redshirt team for 2010.

I wonder if we are going to have any walk-ons for this upcoming season, besides Palo. We only have ten scholarship players, right?

I don't see him contributing much except in practice. He played as a freshman, but rarely got off the bench his junior year.

strange that he is red shirting. The 2011 team appears to have a lot of shooters, and the 2010 team looks to be short on bodies.

I'll never understand why anyone would ever feel the need to make a negative comment about a kid paying his own way and wanting to be a part of the program.

Could be transfer rules. Moorehead state is Div 1 (I think).

It doesn't matter what division he is transferring from, going to a Div 1 program in basketball requires a red shirt unless there are special circumstances involved.

So you're going to get on me about putting one too many "o"s in a word...hmmm

Guess you must be perfect then.

Dude, relax. I'm not "getting on you". It's probably one of the most often misspelled college names in the country.

You can't help someone out on here with a proper name without them getting all defensive about it?

I'm not perfect. However, if someone helps me get it right, I thank them rather than jumping on their ****.

By the way, you totally missed the part where I pointed out that you were correct.

I think John Lamb is a nice pick-up as a preferred walk-on; however, the last position we need for 2011-2012 is another shooting guard. I would rather have a center (5), power forward (4), point guard (1), or a small foward (3). Hopefully, we are not done recruiting preferred walk-ons. Recruiting good preferred walk-ons is very important for the health of the MBB program both for practice and improving other players as well as providing good quality spot minutes. Go Cyclones!!!

I think both Bryan Peterson and Sean Haluska came from a division III school and not a JC and neither red shirted. I don't remember any special circumstances for either of them.

Haluska came from Indian Hills Community College and Petersen came from Kirkwood Community College.

So yes, they were JC players.
