Toure might be the most college ready of all the freshman. That said freshman are a crap shoot
Only because he is not expected to be a scorer . Just defense and ball handling handling. Maybe give us what Tamin did as a freshman but off the bench

Exactly, they need players 10+ in rotation for practice at leastI was of this thinking too before listening to CW and Blum where they said we need a portion of the team that needs to come from freshman.
We don't have NIL to restock the roster through the portal.
I wish I had an insider angle. I just hope he doesn't end up on a team that we play frequently. That's definitely a draw back of the unlimited transfer era.I wonder what NIL Nojus got as a highly recruited freshman. I was hopeful when he didn't declare right away. Was there a NIL offer from TJ that Nojus (and his family and agent) considered, but decided wasn't enough? Did TJ want him back, but not at the price?
I believe Nojus will have a very good career and I wish he could've been kept.
Lol, what? Since when is every college athlete entitled to just get whatever pt they want? I guess we've come a long ways since my playing days when I had to scratch and claw for every opportunity to even play collegiate sports and it took me 3 years to even get a chance. You only get 4-5 years to play college ball, and I would be pissed if I had just 1 year wasted sitting the bench.
I don’t know your story but I doubt you were a highly recruited 4 star athlete that didn’t get playing time like the player in question.Lol, what? I guess it's just a microcosm of society now, everyone is entitled without putting in any work.
What about if you are working your butt off and can't get playing time? If I'm going to work my tail off, I'd just as soon do it where I can get some game time. Again, assuming the goal is primarily to play BB and a degree is secondary.Lol, what? Since when is every college athlete entitled to just get whatever pt they want? Especially if you are a high star freshman who remembers the other schools during your recruitment hyping you up and telling you how well you would fit into the program. What about if your are working your butt off and can't get playing time? If I'm going to work my tail off, I just as soon do it where I can get some game time.
So now Nojus didn’t put in any of the work?Lol, what? Since when is every college athlete entitled to just get whatever pt they want? Wow, you’re really misconstruing what he’s sayingLol, what? Since when is every college athlete entitled to just get whatever pt they want? Your ratio is a bit off, and I don’t know that Tamin is really relevant there. He got playing time well before he was expected to because of injuries and transfers out. I think it would be incredibly interesting to have a crystal ball and see whether or not he would’ve played at all without unforeseen circumstances. If he doesn’t play as a freshman, does he stay? Probably, because it’s Tamin. Most won’t. It seems like we are valuing the playing time of transfers at a higher level than high school kids who may have the same contributions if given an opportunity. I can’t think of a single transfer who has sat out in the same way that the high school recruits have. At some point, high school recruits will stop coming. How are we going to fill a practice squad, let alone get the right players and place that could contribute in case of injury or illness. I am a TJ supporter and am grateful reigniting basketball in Ames. That being said, I don’t think it would’ve hurt us in most of the games that we played this year to give Nojus or Watson a few spot minutes to keep them engaged, hungry, and developing skills that would allow them to contribute.
Based on what? The talent gap has gotten alot further now. Mid majors can't build a program based around 3 or 4 year guys anymore because their best players leave now for NIL.
This tournament is a shining example of this. The upsets just aren't there anymore and many games were non-competitive.
He could be successful elsewhere, but I sure didn't see it in any phase when he was out there this year. Descent 3 point shot. Maybe he makes a jump, but definite ball handling and defensive liability as a fresh.ISU will not survive without being able to retain talent at a discount. You have to keep rolling the dice on prep players.
Sad it didn't work out with Nojus but his handle and defense just weren't where they needed to be this year. I won't be surprised if he's successful elsewhere though.
I think Blum said recently that this restriction isn't in place anymore.Am I correct that Toure and Pleta can't take NIL as international players? That may be some of the reason we are seeing this push towards foreign players.
After 10 guys you’re usually into specialists or human victory cigars. Also there are hundreds of guys every year who enter the portal and never find a new home. Filling the roster for a P4 program isn’t going to be a problemThe issue I see here is every Team needs guys at end of bench that will not play that year unless injuries happen. That used to be fill be underclassmen waiting their turn. If those players simply drop down to lesser Teams so they can get major mins that pushes other players on those teams further down the bench. And so on.
Who becomes player 9, 10, 11, 12 on bench for the top 25 schools? Would not be top transfers as they are going to go to school with guaranteed minutes. Will not be highly recruited freshman as they want mins too. Or maybe you get 1 or 2 that's willing to come as clear path after year 1. Seems like going to need to recruit down to fill spots 11 and 12 with guys who just want a chance and hope they can develop
I understand filling those spots will not be hard, but in the past some of those guys would stick around and eventually play big mins. I doubt that happens as much as will not get talented but not ready guys to stay long enough. I disagree that #10 on roster has not been future talent in the past. I think the level of 10+ will drop as guys move down for minutesAfter 10 guys you’re usually into specialists or human victory cigars. I wasn't referencing Nojus specifically. I responding to his general comment that if a player isn't get pt right away as a freshman then they should be upset. So now Nojus didn’t put in any of the work?
You were one of the loudest posters banging the drum all season for the bench to get more PT and now if they leave they “are entitled to PT without putting in any of the work”
Players come and go.
It’s only a real concern if the guys transferring out go to another decent P4 team. If they transfer to a mid major that’s most likely where they stay. While the transfer rule is fairly new we don’t have to many stories of guys moving down to a mid major from a P4 and then back up.I understand filling those spots will not be hard, but in the past some of those guys would stick around and eventually play big mins.
