Just saw on sportscenter that if ND is forced to give up independent status, it will pursue ACC membership. This is great news for ISU.

The only news I want to hear is that OU is staying in the Big 12, and we are adding 3 more teams to get a title game. Louisville, Cincinatti, and TCU. The Big 10 may not expand period, meaning more teams are left out in the cold. And if they only go to 14, KU and Mizzou are higher up than we are. We need the Big 12 to survive, lock in equal revenue, and put in a monster buyout for leaving. In short, stability.

That is NOT good news for ISU. If ND goes to the ACC we might be screwed because it really kills the chances that the B1G pursues further expansion. Our best chance would be Texas going to the Big Ten along with us, Mizzou, and Kansas, where we'd form some sort west division along with Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. That would obviously be pretty sweet, but seems about the least likely outcome at this point.

You would think though if the ACC and the PAC-12 both went to 16, the SEC and B1G would follow suit

Do any of us really know what will make it the bets for ISU at this point?

College of Engineering manages to invent time machine, decides best use of it after killing Hitler is to go back and pull Osbourne's head out his *** concerning revenue sharing when Big XII is formed.

The Big 10 would be by far the best bet for ISU right now, and always has been. If that offer is ever made, we better be packing our bags immediately.

This is obvious, but not the point I was getting to. All this crap about thinking this school going here or there, and how it will effect us is impossible to tell. Obviously going to the Big 10 would be best.

Maybe? Yesterday I would have said you were absolutely right, not so sure now. I don't think anybody real knows how having two super conferences and 2-3 "normal"-sized BCS conferences would really affect things like non-conf. scheduling, TV contracts, bowl tie-ins, etc. If Notre Dame was on the table, I could see the Big Ten matching right away. If they are not on the table, I think they'll sit back and wait.

I think the B1G not expanding is good for ISU. That means that there are not 4 superconferences, and there is still room for a 5th BCS conference, which ISU would logically be a part of.

the worst case scenario, and the only one where we end up left out, is the 4 16-team conferences with us not included.

Right.

Chances are, you'd only have Rutgers, Kansas, and Iowa State remaining from that list. Missouri is probably going to the SEC, unless the Big Ten offers a spot first.

It's possible, however, that ND is just posturing for the best possible deal by playing the ACC against the Big Ten.

From Andy Katz story, reading between the lines, the ACC is holding two spots open for TX and KU (or MO). If they don't come, then Rutgers and UConn take those spots. It seems impractical for TX to leave Tech behind, but the ACC won't take Tech. So, that means TX goes to the PAC.

Throwing ND in the mix, clouds things a bit. Who does ACC take with ND? Probably UConn, according to Jim Boeheim. Which is why Rutgers probably stays on the table for the Big Ten.

Just thinking out loud here, but I don't see this as great news for Iowa State.

I don't think it's entirely bad. But not great. Reason being, if Iowa State was ever going to sneak into the Big Ten, it would be because they've added some tremendous value (Notre Dame or Texas) and that money was no longer a worry.

If the Big Ten whiffs on Notre Dame and Texas, then acquiring more valuable properties (hate to use that word but that's basically what we're talking about here) even more important. Unfortunately, Iowa State isn't considered to be valuable.

Who knows? This crap all changes by the minute anyway. Just my two cents.
