I don’t think getting rid of Campbell would be a good idea, therefore I am resigned to accepting this kind of trash. Hello mid level bowl (again).

Other than the Covid season, name a critical game Matt has won - ND embarrassed him in bowl, lost Big 12 Championship game, lost Alamo Bowl, lost Cheez It Bowl to Clemson, the whole season after the Covid Season, lost to TT to go 8-0 for the first time ever, 2 Gameday Iowa games, etc…

Yes he has beat some ranked teams, but at the end of the day, it hasn’t mattered.
Campbell and his teams have consistently collapsed whenever they get the slightest amount of national attention or buzz.

Out of all the awful terrible play for the first half, and there is plenty, the last sequence of not calling a time out and taking one more shot at the end zone is the absolute most inexcusable part of it that. why would you save a time out?

I’ve always said this and people laugh, but I’m 100% serious.

Coaches should spend their summers playing Madden/NCAA Football to practice game management situations. I 100% believe that.

I wouldn’t trust avid gamers to handle anything else on my football team, but I would 100% trust them to manage a clock better than a lot of head coaches

If you had to summarize that first half in just a 30 second sequence, it would be the delay of game after the false start. That put us 10 yards behind the chains without running a play. Just inexcusable incompetence. That incompetence infected every aspect of the game on both sides of the ball.

Kudos to special teams I guess, if you are a silver lining kind of person.

The key to look for will be if we waste a timeout for no other reason than not getting a play in within time early in the 3rd quarter. This happens, the rout will intensify. If not, we have a chance to claw back some lost pride.

Rocco looking like he’s trying to cross a 4-lane highway at rush hour back there.
He does look hurried, is hurried. He is a completely different QB, in terms of consistent accuracy, when he's rushed.

So all not his fault. We need better line play but also need play calls to expose the KU (and other teams) rush.

A quarterback being unable to hit his receivers accurately or remain calm in the pocket is absolutely his fault, even if he’s pressured

He can come back in if we called timeout right?

Sure. But they had only 1 timeout at the time and you don’t use a timeout there. They should have used it at the end of the half I think, but that play was inconsequential and the right call to get Higgins back in.

I won’t even watch that game. No longer interested in spending $$$$$ to see K State kick our ass in Dublin.

Why not? Playing road bowl games is one of our storied traditions!

I am pumped to play Memphis in the Liberty Bowl again!

Think lower. They'll be at a place in the selection order with better options, and while in the past they might have picked us early since we travel, you'd have to be stupid to think our fans would travel well if we end up with 4-5 losses after the 7-0 start.

There is no question that Campbell has improved the overall quality of athletes in the program during his tenure. There are some big time guys playing on Sunday that came thru here. He has changed the culture and made the program relevant.

All that said, he is NOT a game day coach. He doesn’t adjust when his plan isn’t working. He doesn’t win in the margins. He can’t manage the clock well. We waste plays on every offensive possession. You can’t get to the next rung of the ladder in college football without being good at those things.

These are facts.

Fox sports had a tweet before the season started, showing how many 4-5 star players were on Big 12 teams. ISU was dead last with 1. That 4 star is the third string QB. ISU has to win by developing players and having great coaching. The current recruiting class is ranked 63rd in the country. Mediocrity is all ISU will ever be unless they magically start getting these great players. ISU had overachieved all season, this drop off was bound to happen. The 7-0 start was amazing, but ISU’s weakness’ are being exposed now(talent, injuries, and in game coaching).

Especially when Bowls matter even less now.
