Just got 1.3” of rain here in North Ames. Quite a downdraft that came with it.
Our roof was getting replaced yesterday so I was anxiously watching that cell as they finished up. Thankfully it was slow to make it to West Ames and they were out of here before it started sprinkling. I only ended up with a tenth, though.

Looked like a few showers turned into a lengthy down pour.

Yes, the humidity cranked up this morning out of nowhere and with the cold front moving through it just fired up out of nowhere

East Ames is just getting hammered with heavy rain and wind. A little bit of hail too.
I thought it might just miss us but I guess not.

Got 1.5” of rain last night south of Algona. Seems strange to say, but we needed a nice rain. Neighbors light spots in a bean field have started turning brown.

The tornado sirens are going off in Ankeny. Is this a mistake?

Yeah WTF. Went off in Johnston too. Nothin happening here at all. Barely a breeze at all. I turn the radar on expecting something big to be coming and there is a storm near Mitchellville, already way past the metro. Why blare the sirens in places where the storm is clearly 15-20 miles East and is moving away? Just because the "warning" caught a tiny sliver of the county?

I was thinking the same thing. The Ankeny sirens seem to go off much more frequently than they used to that I worry folks may not take them as seriously when a real tornado is bearing down on us.

Had 1.5 inches in our gauge here in N. Ames, we had some decent straight line winds during the storm. Lots of lightening towards the North, but no longer raining here in Ames.
