Balloons have had 8 chances to go up so far, and 7 have been cancelled.

Can any of our career meteorologists enlighten us on this? Reed Timmer is calling it a “wind bag event” on Twitter, and it does seem like the storms that keep coming through are on some sort of conveyer belt hitting the same areas repeatedly.

It reached a massive peak of lightning/thunder right about 2am. Nonstop, loud thunder matched to piercing strokes for a solid 30 minutes straight. Holy crap.The nonstop lightning in Ankeny right now is insane. Looks like it could be a long night of weather.
