Bad time to mention that Cam Smith made the Astros Opening Day roster?

**ducks**
Very interested to see how he does. Feels like the Astros rushed him a bit to the Majors but maybe he is just that damn good.

For me the deal makes no sense. Trading away one of your best prospects for a "win now" type player but doing absolutely nothing else that suggests you are looking to win immediately is just dumb. It was done to give the appearance of trying without actually trying.

PSA-Sunday I hung a 75” LG on my living room wall. Come to find out you can’t add streaming apps. You can only use the ones they have preloaded. So I either have to put a Roku on my smart TV or pull it off my phone.

McGrath hit another bomb. If he doesn’t that Turner’s roster spot mid season he may get 40 dongs in the monors this year.

You mean McGeary right? He's not even ranked in the top 30 Cubs prospects and is already 25. Hasn't played anything higher than AA ball so far. He'll likely be a depth piece at Iowa this year and would have to be added to the 40 man to even be called up. Don't see it happening unless worse case scenario plays out at 1B where either we are getting no production at all there or injuries and he's just killing it at Iowa. He's somewhat blocked like Mervis was for the time being. We'll see how the season plays out I guess.

On another note, old friend Canario is likely hitting waivers again as the Mets have no room for him either despite a productive spring training:

Hoping he can find a home with a small market team in need of some OF depth. Really interested to see what he could do with some regular MLB playing time but he always seems to be on the wrong side of a roster crunch between the Cubs and now the Mets.

I think he’d be a great fit in KC

McGeary is a better fit as a backup to Busch.

An unproven 25 year old prospect that is not even ranked in the Top 30 of the system and hasn't hit anything higher than AA pitching over a proven veteran MLB player? I get that Turner is 40 and not the same player he was a few years ago but to say a guy that hasn't sniffed the big leagues yet is a better fit over a guy that has hit .285 and nearly 200 HR in his career is a bold take. I hope McGeary crushes it in Iowa and makes a case but until we see that it's a familiar hype we had with Mervis who is just a year older than McGeary. Maybe the prospect rankings are off but have to believe there is enough data on him that there is a reason he's not listed in the top 30 list.
