That is what happens when you cannot STOP THE RUN.....

How much of our base 3, 3, 5 did we play? I did not really check... but the wind and their QB were not going to allow them to be effective passing down field. they just ran, ran, ran... and we never set the edge... we had no one willing/able to take away the outside runs. it was brutal watching.

would have liked to see two bid DEs plus Lima, Johnson... and get them to play disciplined defending the gaps... seemed like they had too few defenders, running through gaps and leaving gaping holes all over the place. Missed holding calls didn't help but this is not on the refs... you have to force those calls to be made, they were not helping themselves.

I think this year will go down in ISU history as the season of 'Almost". They were almost good enough to have a really special season. They almost had a chance to play for the conference tournament. They almost had a chance to win 9 or even 10 games. They can say they almost beat some really good teams.

They are going to a bowl game which is great, but the expectations have been raised and the team let an awful lot of opportunities slip through their fingers.

The real question to me is, will the team reach down and decide this wasn't good enough or will they be happy with being "almost" good enough?

The same thing could happen to the basketball season. I hope they can find it within themselves to rise up and say almost isn't good enough.

Our safeties are banged up. Backers getting caught in the fog without the extra down lineman to keep them clean. Once Eisworth got hurt things have only gotten worse.
