I don't think Lipsey has ever *not* been hurt his entire ISU career. Pretty sure his shoulder is (and has been) ground beef but just plays through it with painkillers.
I'm hoping it's not 'ground beef'. He just got it repaired.

Of course we don't know any of the specifics, but it just might not be 100 % yet.

It didn't look like he hurt it again. Did he?

He got hit in the face and right arm I think right before his 2 short armed freethrows.

I think he was more gassed, no legs left towards the end.
That was probably the most intense 4th game of the season ISU has ever played.

Both are absolutely true. We're freaking out about giving up an 18 point lead, but shouldn't Auburn be freaking out they got in an 18 point hole? The fact is they look like a really good team and we played well enough to beat them. Runs happen in basketball when good offenses are involved and Auburn has one of the best offenses.

Of course they can point to losing a key contributor for much of that first half to injury

Wait. Do we play UConn next then? If so, that’s terrifying, but also a great opportunity for a good win.
We would play UConn if both they win and we win our 2nd games. Or, if we both lose our 2nd games. I think.
How funny would it be to win the loser bracket and play unc and UConn?
They would have to make up some kind of new 3rd place trophy!

My hope is they taste blood and the potential and realize they have to bring the hair on fire focus and intensity they did in the first half for all 40.

Everyone has things that should have them believing they can cut down nets at the final 4 and plenty to work on if they want to get there.

Not even silver lining. But might be better than a win for this team at this time. Had they pulled that out with how second half went, might not be the case.
I honestly don't think it's humanly possible to play 40 minutes with the intensity we bring. There are going to be some intensity lulls in almost every game. I think the offensive droughts also have to do with fatigue and guys resting a bit. The key to reaching the next level for TJ will be consistently scoring 70+. The offensive performance tonight against a great defensive team was a great sign. If you look at early last season our offense struggled mightily in the preseason tourney against worse teams.

Obviously once your shoulder, or any joint really, is injured once, it is easier to get injured again. Hope he is OK.

Sometimes both he and Gilbert are accidents waiting to happen.

My thoughts on the game and season:
1. We didn't lose to a top 5 team, we lost to the #1 team. They are loaded.
2. Meza Parker for Auburn? What a beast.
3. I get Milan has hit some fadeaways including the game winner last year, but he has missed a bunch too. Don't mind the fadeaway as long as it is closer. He played really good in the 1st half.
4. Gilbert gets me nervous with all the dribbling. Worked out mostly in the 2nd half but can be nerve wracking.
5. Nice to see an inside game from our bigs for a change. Not sure when we had a big back down a guy and get a bucket consistently. And good to see our bigs hit free throws
6. Not sure what the defensive turnover differential is between 1st half and 2nd half under Oz but I say 2:1.
7 I like that we aren't doubling all the time like past few years. We are selectively doubling.

Go Dayton. I want Carolina. And then UConn.....We are better than UNC. Playing Uconn, win or lose, would really help. Just playing Auburn, UNC and UCONN pretty much takes care of the non conference BS with NET.. Not to mention Marquette and @ Iowa. Just have to do our thing in the Big 12 and we are looking at contending for a 1 seed come March.

Testifying
Hell of an environment.
Just really, really physical. Gonna need to replenish fluids.

Two pretty equal teams. Felt like an Elite 8 game.
I'm telling you all, it was a physical game up close:

Well, that was a gut punch. Not going dwell on it, because at least it shows that we belong playing with the big boys. Now back at the resort drowning my sorrows. Bar ceiling lights make it look like a bunch of a-holes are hovering over me. Or maybe they're Auburn fans.
