Well, that was a gut punch. Not going dwell on it, because at least it shows that we belong playing with the big boys. Now back at the resort drowning my sorrows. Bar ceiling lights make it look like a bunch of a-holes are hovering over me. Or maybe they're Auburn fans.

I've heard of boob lights but never sphincter lights.

this is honestly like the hardest bracket in the NCAA tourney lol

The 4 games of S16 through the championship are probably lower-ranked on average than these 4 games cumulatively. A top 2 team, a top 4 team, a top 10 team, and a top 12 team? That's like worst case scenario no upsets in your bracket path.

Two point loss on a last second tip-in in an early season neutral site tournament against (probably) the #1 team in the country in our first major test of the season? Not a cause for any concern at all. I think we showed that we belong in the top five (even if we drop this week). Need to bounce back quickly for the next two!

Man that hurts but encouraged by the way we played. That was a high level game. Too much forcing it into the posts to go 1 v 1 on Broome, Lipsey was a non-factor on offense (is he hurt?), Gilbert foul trouble, and poor defensive rebounding. The great part is we played them well and still feels like we have lots of growth left and a game like this will pay dividends later on.
we only had 3 games under our belt and every one else in the tournament has played more games. On top of that, everyone else played at least one decent to great team before coming to this tournament. We are clearly very good, but we were not battle tested, we did not face game situations or pressure situations, and we didn't need to stay focused for 40 minutes to beat the teams we played. I truly believed if we had one more game under our belt we would have been in better game shape (our players looked gassed at times) and if we played better competition we would would have been better prepared for a 40 minute game against a great team.

Disappointing loss but a good teaching experience. Early season games don’t mean as much compared to conference games. Give these guys time to bond with each other. They will be fine.
we thought that last year, but the committee punished us for no quality non conference wins. They gave us the last 2 seed spot. Hopefully we can get one in this tournament and Marquette, we need at least one quality non con win this year.

When lipsey is clearly off offensively like he was tonight we just can't have Chatfield and heise on the court with him for that long. We had that lineup along with a visibly exhausted jefferson on the court and we went from up 5 to down. I was screaming at the TV to get some offense in. Took too long.

I agree with most of that, though I think it is human nature (happens constantly in sports, every year) to let down a little bit when you are blowing a team out like that (and it's human nature for that other team to really circle the wagons at halftime). Particularly when a team is very, very good, as Auburn is. No excuses, of course, but I think our team will learn and be better off for the experience.
