Didn't see this posted anywhere. Typical Texas arrogance from their coach in the post game interview.

On what Hunter's return to Iowa State was like for him:

Terry:
"Tyrese is a terrific kid. He is a terrific young player that — forget about basketball — off the court is an incredible kid. He loves playing college basketball and college athletics. Again, we're Texas. We're everybody's big game. So we looked at it like, 'You know what? It's just another opportunity for us to compete at the highest level and the next big game on our schedule.'

Came into town to watch my sons 8 month old daughter while he and the wife went to the game. She had a bottle and fell asleep at 7:15. I had 6 and stayed up for the whole game. I’m beginning to question if she has any of the family genes.
Tell the young lass that your bloodline is built different. She'll get it one day. You're doing it right. Stay prosperous

Actually, it was the Saturday after finals. Was able to stay in the dorms Friday night, kicked out of the dorms by noon, if not earlier, then killed time waiting for the game.
You are correct. I saw the date of Dec 19th and googled 1987 calendar but for whatever reason, a 2022 calendar came up as #1 option and I didn't even check the year at top. You can't even trust the internet to give you the unvarnished truth these days . . . .

Tj really outcoached Texas tonight, I really have no idea what the Texas game plan was, but that Texas staff is struggling.

I thought we played ok, but it wasn’t a great performance. Texas I thought rolled over once they went down 9, kind of a pathetic effort by them really.

Holy cow Carr is a ball heavy guard. Hard guy to play with I would think.

Might be a rough trip through the big 12 for Texas, they got a lot of issues.
Not to worry. They will have a couple of MickyD's to replace him soon enough.

I wasn't there but the game where Magic was born with Barry Stevens hitting the buzzer beater vs Mizzou should always be mentioned.

I think OSU '92 and Iowa '87 will usually get most of the votes as all timers but there are a couple under the radar games I was there for. KU in '93 was ranked about 7th(??) and had ESPN slobbering all over Rex Walters and Adonis Jordan as the best backcourt in the country. Bayless and JT weren't having it. That was back when your student tickets rotated and I was upper level, midcourt in the 2nd to the last row. The noise reverberation off the ceiling in Hilton is unlike anything else I've ever heard. My ears rang for days. Awesome game.

Oky State came to town in '00 with the winner leaving with the inside track to the conference title. They had Gottlieb, who was easy to hate and always jawing with somebody, and a gritty team coached by Eddie. Great game and the feeling at the end of that one when everybody realized that there was no way we weren't winning that 'ship was amazing.

I was there for the Boddicker game and it was VERY loud for his FTs. The crazy thing was, that one wasn't a sellout. There were probably 2000 empty seats up in the end zone and corners.
Good call on the ‘93 KU game! My lasting memory was a steal and dunk by Justus. One or two times that year he didn’t have the hops for a dunk and game up short. That one though he had plenty of fly. My student seats were a little above the KU bench, and ol’ Roy was pretty impressed with Bayless. Fun and loud game.

Big 12 Tournament trophies:
ISU: 5
Texas: 1

Big 12 conference titles:
ISU: 2 outright, 23 and 22 years ago.
Texas: 1 outright, 24 years ago. 2 shared.

Oh Texas, so unbelievably awesome and unstoppable!!!

They've won one single outright title that wasn't even this century and one Big 12 tournament. I genuinely lose track of how many Big 12 tournaments ISU has won sometimes.

You are correct about OSU. But all those above in my memory stand out as real close.

Not even including any of LE's 99-00. They were classic like when Fizer face planted Mihm.
There was a sui game when Raveling was coach in my memory. Maybe the Lafester game.

On the other side of the crowd spectrum, I remember going to a ISU -KU game when Ted Owens was their coach. Was passing through town , stopped and bought tickets in the 7th row opposite the KU bench. KU was terrible as were we. We won. Maybe a couple thousand there at most.
Similar situation with woman. Bought tickets to an OU game and sat right behind the bench. We won. That was year OU tried to drop WBB.

Davis was the Iowa coach for that game. There was a scuffle after the game between ISU and Iowa coaches. Well, scuffle might be too harsh. Strong words were exchanged in a heated convo.

In the early years of Johnny Orr, probably the biggest games were:
Beating Minnesota. A few weeks before the Mizzou game and probably the genesis of Hilton Magic.
Mizzou. I sat next to Norm Stewart working as a student. After Barry’s shot, never heard as many expletive deletives in one sentence.
Oklahoma in 1983-84. At that time, Johnny’s biggest win next to Mizzou. Their only loss in the Big 8 and they had Wayman Tisdale, a lottery pick before there was a lottery pick.
