Tell you what. You try blocking 8 guys with 6 and 9 with 7 when you essentially run in a 3 yard wide box 75% of the time .
85% of our running game - is inside or split zone from 11 and 12 personnel . It might be higher. It probably is. Occasionally its a little skip pull with the guard on a G scheme, but again, between the tackles. If you incorporate that, its probably 90% or maybe higher.
Pass game. 90% in the pocket, most straight drop back with maybe 15% RPO.
Unless you have NFL offensive line - and we don't, and even they struggle with it - we are asking them to do something that they can't do which is physically dominate week in, week out.
Random a** formations is not creative its stupid.
The one thing that was and is creative is moving the pocket with a high-low read that has worked really really well early on.
Its not rocket science but there's a reason it works. Moving the pocket, changing the eyes of the defense.
The OL is easy to get blamed. But when the defense 90% of the time knows exactly what is coming from the look they get - its not easy to do.
I will forever wonder why we don't ever run outside the tackles consistently. I've seen us run toss. Its in the playbook. I've seen it. I 've seen option. but its like it disappears at some point
ISU's last offensive play got blown up by a wide 3 man front.
