What? We got outscored the last 25 minutes of that game by Kenpom's 342nd ranked team and gave up 54 in the second half to a team without a win over a D1 school. It was more than 'a few minutes' of scrub time. I'd quit responding if you quit twisting my words.

Kenpom has virtually nothing to do with winning and losing basketball games.

Big deal. Carter and Ashton played half of the second half. Those two would not ever see the floor for most good teams....except for scrub time. I am glad our starters kicked ***, and then "maintained-out" of this meaningless game.

Your words are twisted, but all your own doing. That is how idiotic you are being. You make less sense than jsb and bode's love-child.

That's below the belt!

How anyone could be upset about a game where Stu scored is beyond me

Agreed. Was just using it as an example for how bad Coppin State is.
Here's the thing. If beating Coppin State by 40 would give ISU a #1 seed, we'd beat them by 50. I don't care how good/bad a team is, nothing is guaranteed until we score more points. The starters played smart and aggressive to open the game which is really all that we needed. We took control and eased off a bit to save energy for a game that matters far more. Complaining about it is short sighted.

Scoring margin is a silly measurement. This team is not built that way. It really only shows up for pressing teams (see OU/WVU) and teams that play deep into their bench on a regular basis. Iowa State does not do that.

Because Iowa beat them by 35, and many on here like to have **** measuring contests with Iowa.

Too bad there isn't one direct collective ***** measuring contest every year that we could have won something like 6 of the last 7 times.

Iowa State should have beaten this team by 40 points.

I expected better out of you than this comment. If anyone should know how hard it is to beat a team by 40, it's you.

EVERYTHING has to go right. No matter how much better you are than the other team, beating them by 40 is damn hard. You're gonna put in your reserves at some point, ones that have only played in garbage time, and then expect them to keep up the pace against their starters. That's not easy. Could we have played better tonight, I guess but a 20 point win against a ****** team while looking ahead to the conference opener against a top 5 team is more than enough to be satisfied.

If you don't think this team was looking ahead to OU while playing this game, you're taking crazy pills.

I appreciate the fact that you can disagree and have a rational discussion at the same time...the only thing that I want to make clear, is that scoring margin isn't why I was upset...if we would've been ice cold from the field and won by 20, or even 10-15 I wouldn't have been upset...it was our effort on the defensive end of the court that irked me so much, and our lack of a killer instinct which seems to be a constant.

If we play well and lose this Saturday, I won't be upset...I'd just like to see this team get to the point where the effort and attitude are more consistent, regardless of opponent, or score. I think that is how team's maximize talent.

It was actually a 24 hour rule but I get the message.

I love Iowa State athletics and I want the same thing as all of you guys...I could pry go about expressing it in better fashion...it just frustrates me that this group played down to the level of their competition so often and got burned last year, I would hope they'd learn their lesson and develop more of a 'step on their throat' killer instinct attitude than they have.

I have no doubt we'll have a good rest of the season...I just don't want to see our shot at a conference title or deep run in the tourney go by the wayside because we refuse to wake up from supposive 'wake-up calls'.

Coppin State was 'killed' in the first five minutes of this game. We came out strong and it was over. The difference between the games last year and this game is that in the ones last year, the team we were playing actually had a chance. Every player on our team and most fans (excluding you I guess) could tell it was over halfway through the first no matter how hard Coppin State tried. There was absolutely no point in putting balls to the wall effort on either side of the court other than to waste much needed energy.

Just a guess but you're a glass half empty kind of guy, aren't you?

Fun is watching the highlights of Morris's behind the legs and behind the back assists in the first half. Think I'll go watch them again actually.

Good luck to hok fans on that. Three years of free pizza and ice cream makes it hard for them to see their ****s, let alone measure them.

I knew we had it in the bag, but I'd like to see us keep defending and rebounding, and not play to the score. I realize it's tough not to have a little bit of a mental letdown once the game is in hand, and you have a big game coming up, but 54 points in a half to a team without a win over a D1 team is atrocious.
