More on the numbers.

A craps table roll will occur every 30-60 seconds, so assume 45 second intervals.
$100 in play/roll
House edge is about 1.5% on most of the commonly played bets.

If you play for 6 hours, you'll have $100 x 90 x 6 in play, or $54,000 on the table over the course of 1 day.
They expect for you to walk home with 0.985 of that amount, which is $53,190.

You'll have swings where you're way above and way below this, but the casino is expecting to win $810 on you each day for what would seem like a large amount of money bet. Spread that over a few days of play and they're expected win is $1500 to $2000 on $100,000 to $150,000 in total bets.

Just to expand on these numbers, if you're ADT is $810 like the math is showing above, then you can expect about $267 in comps a day. That's enough for a room and about $100 in food every day which checks out with the story.

The only two problems with craps in particular is them rating you properly and often and the small amount of house edge means you need to grind out hours. The first of which is mitigated by throwing them some tips on a semi regular basis. The second is just how much you like to gamble.

I like to gamble 100 out of 100, so that's why I avoid going to casinos a much as possible. :)

As a rookie gambler still, how do they track how much you bet with each hand/roll/whatever?

That's what the card is for!

Each table or each bank of tables will have a computer on the dealers side and the floor person (Always in a Suit) will swipe your card and type in your first initial bets. That locks you in at that average bet range in terms of tracking each hand for 15-30min depending on how busy it is. Then they will come back around every 15-30min and update your average bet. This takes a little skill to realize when they come around and kinda up your bets whenever they are around. They know this trick a little bit so they might watch your table for a few hands.

They have a set number of hands per hour for each games and then they do the formula to do your money per hour. Blackjack is around 75 per hour in terms of comps I believe so if you were doing $10 bets you'd expect $750 an hour or so in terms of "coin in" per hour.

Here's a pic of the floor person (blonde woman in the suit) that is leaning on the computer that will swipe your card behind the table.

Do the casinos ever have tables for people that are learning?
Absolutely. Ask the casino club people for a schedule or go in the mornings before 11am, especially on week days. Nearly every casino offers those for craps, blackjack, and roulette. Haven't seen much for others.

Also for the most part every dealer should be able to explain a game in 30sec to you if you don't understand how it works. You're also allowed to watch people to get an understanding.

For table games I also recommend this app called Riverboat Gambler on both iOS and Android. It has 30+ table games and totally free. You get $200 in chips a day and you can watch ads for more chips. Definitely a super easy way to get an understanding of the game and betting works. Doesn't have craps or roulette though.

Thanks - very helpful. I've always wanted to learn craps but it seems so intimidating walking up in a casino. And I don't want to be the guy holding everyone else up. I'm sure I could watch some YouTube videos on it as well.

Sit down for Pai Gow as well. Very fun/non-intimidating game where you can learn on the spot, play only against the dealer(you can’t hurt anyone at the table with your decision), and have the opportunity to push.

It’s a great time killer with friends or a place to meet one ones.

Not bachrach. Sat at a table for about 15 minutes just me, a buddy, and the dealer and he explained everything (at Tama) and neither of us had any clue what was going on afterwards. Never touched that game again.

Do you mean Baccarat? And were they trying to explain the scoreboard to you? I would just ignore that and Baccarat becomes one of the easiest games in the Casino and since it's everyone betting on the same cards it can be a lot of fun in a big pit.

Also Caesars is having their Semi-Annual sale. Honestly one of the worst ones I've seen in years at 25% off but here's the rates for all the hotels on the Strip near our weekend

Yeah that’s it. Bachrach is a cheap place to get suits.

Life is Beautiful has announced their line up. Mixed reviews on the line up based on my quick research on the internet but I am still expecting a sold out festival of 150-170k people.

Are you sure it’s not 150-170k people through the gates throughout the whole festival? That’s more like 50kish per day and not actually 150-170k people.

It’s between 50k-60k per day with majority being single day tickets so who knows the actual break down. Attendance is that many 150k+ and yes there are several thousand that are being counted 3 times because of the pass which sold out in 90min this year

How likely are season ticketholders to get tickets through ISU. I'm a gold level donor for this year. Are most of them gobbled up by higher levels than that normally?
