It ranks as one of my favorite games because of how painful it was/is for Iowa fans. They got State'd. It was a masterclass in "**** around and find out". It's also why we lose a lot of similar close games.

They have every bit of emotion and momentum on their side with like 95% odds of winning at half time. They came out and things looked like we might move the ball but no reason for their fans to get scared. And then we promptly took a jack hammer to their balls in the last 30 seconds.

While this is probably the only time I'd ever say this phrase, it works... sometimes, somebody else's tears can taste like champagne. Maximum pain = maximum pleasure!
agreed, yesterday was retribution for 2019 and 2017 where they pulled the win out of their @ss and may not have deserved it. Both games the Big 10 officials helped Iowa at critical times late in the game. I'm not saying we were the better team in 2017, but when Wadley made that catch and run, we didn't have our starting safeties in the game. I thought our 2019 team was better than them.

Just read the comments Hok fans made during the game on HawkeyeNation. Was hilarious to see their mood change from beginning of game when nothing could go right for the Cyclones through the 2nd quarter when Hoks had to settle for two straight field goals from inside the 5 and finally by the end of the game after Noel burned Nwampka for a TD and their complete defensive backfield breakdown during our winning drive.

I was at the game and it was priceless to see 70,000 Hawkeye fans go completely silent after our winning field goal.

Of all the negatives from yesterday's game including OLine penalties, bad play-calling in the first half, etc. I think the stupidest unforced error was having Jack Sidowsky on the field on a kick return play. When we are so short of linebackers, why would we have one on the field for special teams? Don't we have multiple walk-ons for that?

CW was such an apologist on this podcast. Basically said Iowa could have stepped on our throats but didn't, and Iowa would have beaten us if they hadn't got cute.
That’s pretty fricking sad if true. Catering to the eastern Iowa maggots or just being an idiot?

It's been mentioned a few times, but the way ISU won yesterday is the exact same way Iowa has beaten a lot of teams under Ferentz. They're learning it's not particularly enjoyable when you're on the other end of it.
Iowa was just waiting for ISU to screw up, because, over the years, the Cyclones have always screwed up. Pick 6, fumble on the 6, running into punt returner, throwing a pick on a screen pass into coverage when your running back is getting 5 yards a carry, etc. Whatever the Hawks needed, it seemed like the Cyclones would deliver it on a silver platter.

Honest question, did the new 2-minute warning help us win? We had 2 timeouts and it essentially gave us a 3rd to force their last punt, correct?
Possibly, but without the 2-minute warning, Iowa could have run about 12 more seconds off the clock. Not sure how that may have impacted the game.

Interesting ?. The announcers were commenting on how much success they had running that "C" gap ... which they really did. And for those who know the game: wasn't that last run by Iowa on their last 3rd down a "C" gap that succeeded so well earlier in the game? If so, I say that was a 'duh' moment by their staff.

Yep and how many years did they not commit a turnover in the game, 4 or 5? They thought after the first quarter that ISU was going to be so far behind that they could coast and rely on their defense to get the win. Except yesterday instead a touchdown or two from the position we were giving them they were getting field goals because of our defense. We stayed around and got them in the end, just like they have been doing to teams for years.

Dolph is a-ok by me, at least as far as Hawkeyes go.
I don’t care for his way of calling games, but he generally seems pretty fair and he damn sure deserved better than the shabby treatment he got from Barta and McCaffrey.

It amazes me how much Angerer sounds like a young and sober (or at least way less drunk) Podolak.

If only KU hadn’t spit the bit. How did Cincy lose???
At the end of the 1st half Pitt had no timeouts with 1 second left when Cinci decided to fake an injury for some reason, stopping the clock and allowing Pitt to kick a field goal to make it 17-6. If that doesn't happen then Pitt needs a touchdown instead of a field goal at the end of the game.

Not the only reason Cinci lost but still stupid.
