Im guessing too that he will probably have side effects in his foot down the road, but nothing serious. Hopefully just some pain every now and then. The foot/ankle area can be finicky like that.

I damaged mine when I was his age. Healed well at the time, but now (40 years later) I get arthritic twinges around the repair site, along with the normal joint pains that we old folks tend to have. Can be annoying, but not as debilitating as what is in my thumbs & lower back.

I have sprained my ankles more times than anyone should go through, and I have noticed the last couple years that they start to hurt somedays (and Im only 20). But nothing that is crippling. As long as he follows the doctors orders, he will be fine, and come back next year and school everyone YMCA style.

That old joke about grandpa knowing when it's going to rain because of his knee? Yeah...it's true. Changes in barometric pressure make the arthritis flare up. One of the joys of getting old. However, getting old damn sure beats the alternative! ;)

Same with my ankle. Tuesday it was killing me. It then rained/snowed that night...

It shouldn't take much rehab to return to his pre-injury 10 second 40 and 4 inch vertical. I kid, but seeing as how elite speed and jumping isn't what Niang relies on, I see no reason why he shouldn't be 100% by next year.

What if the bone heals all weird, and it ends up like the kid in Rookie of the Year?

How sweet would that be? Niang has like a 40" vertical & is faster than hell.....

And then he breaks it again during the tip off against 16 seed Hampton and comes back his senior year in the same form as this year.

Yeah, but Georges relies on his exceptional footwork and balance more than anyone. I think he will be back at 100%, but a foot injury is just as big of threat to Georges as anyone.

This shouldn't be that difficult to recover from. A lot of it will just come as he gets comfortable trying different aspects of his footwork.
Given the way Georges attacks these things, he'll have a good start on it within 2 minutes of a cast coming off or coming out of surgery.

Of course it shouldn't, and that was not the contention of my post. Twocoach alluded to foot injuries having less of an impact on Georges because he was not an explosive athlete. That is not true.

As long as he doesn't balloon up to 300#'s while he's letting it heal...

He was kidding about the speed and vertical jokes announcers make. I don't think he was aiming at deep analysis there.
His analysis was so bad the joke sucked, and while he was joking about the speed and vertical part, he also said: "I kid, but seeing as how elite speed and jumping isn't what Niang relies on, I see no reason why he shouldn't be 100% by next year." He is not the only one to use that poor reasoning, but it is flat out wrong. Georges should be 100% because the injury is minor to everyone, not because of his lack of elite speed and jumping. It would have been more accurate to say "seeing how elite his footwork and balance are, he could be impacted more by this injury than you typically see".
