They got the last shot (bad one) with a chance for a put back (either failed or fouled), they executed poorly but that is exactly why you wait til 5 seconds left on the clock.

I'm not a huge fan of waiting that long to take a shot at the end. I would want my team to start trying to do something with 10 seconds left. Not shoot the ball with 10 second left, but start to work the offense around a bit so there's some time to take a good shot. There is a reason I'm not a coach though.
