I got that too, but I think I'll pass $35 a person (3 of us - me, wife and daughter (who is a vegetarian)) is way more than I want to spend on a tailgate. If it was just me I would do it in a heart beat because I would eat the BBQ and get my money's worth.

We include the Pre-Game Buffet with all of our packages for the AutoZone Liberty Bowl, because people that have been to it love it. For three hours before kick-off, you get all-you-can eat BBQ and drink (mixed drinks too), performances by the school band and more for $35. Remember, when you are at the game, chicken tenders and a soda will set you back more than $15, so why not get filled up beforehand. We encourage you to celebrate in Memphis at this one-of-a-kind event.

If you're wanting to drink, $35 for all you can drink and eat is a no brainer. Just hope they know that with ISU fans, they should probably take their normal booze budget and double it.

What does it mean that "ISU *and* Tulsa are holding a pre-game tailgate?" Are we going to have to listen to their band and have their spirit squad performing near us?

It reminds me of the Rutgers band playing out on the sidewalk during the start of our pep rally for the Pinstripe Bowl (one of the Pinstripe Bowl staff told me it was probably because that is when and where they played for their previous game at Yankee Stadium). Fortunately, they didn't play too long and our event dominated the Babe Ruth Pavilion. Truly a great pep rally.

So, what is this event going to be like? It sounds like it is a Liberty Bowl pep rally (that includes both Iowa State and Tulsa) more than a truly Iowa State pep rally. If it is the official one that the AD is planning, we will be there. Perhaps this is one of the trade-offs that JP made to get us on the TV viewing side of the field and able to wear cardinal. If so, it is worth it. With the size of our attendance, we will probably dominate the pep rally anyway.

We are really considering this, however with at least 3 kids in our group I think we may be better off buying some booze and bbq and taking it down to the stadium. We did the tailgate down in Austin and I'm going to give the Liberty bowl people a little credit and say that they won't be as cheap as that group was with no plates(presumably to limit the amount of food you could get) and rationing the drinks...

I remember a thing like this before one of the games in KC and it was a complete disaster. Hopefully they are prepared and there isn't long lines.

Yea, I like the idea of $35 for all-inclusive food and drink (including mixed drinks) tailgate with music, particularly since it does not look like there are many bars near the stadium. But I get very nervous that the lines for booze will be ten deep if this is not set up well.

So......with a 2:30pm kick, tailgate starts at 11:30? My email and above info says 11am.....so sarcasm, just trying to plan accordingly.

Also, what type of door policy will there be? Will a person be able to come and go? Possibly a wristband??? Kids wont want to attend, but I think it sounds good.

Fortunately this is what the Liberty Bowl has done year after year so I imagine it will be a very good set up. Vanderbilt and Cincinnati fans seemed pleased with how it went last year.

No way will my wife and I eat and drink $70 worth of food and drink. Time to research Plan B

It isn't just about the food and drink. This is the official pep rally. I would hope that the AD would have some nice features and surprises. I'm planning to go.

Here is the current list of official events.

Will they be designating bars for fans to gather at?
What is a "President's Gala?" I assume I'm not welcome! Seems like they need something for the "people" on Sunday night after the pep rally (in addition to roaming Beale Street).
