Dude they really aren’t. If you think you can’t beat BYU what’s the point? You just don’t realize how good your team and coach are. Again if your worried about BYU and G5 teams then your gonna be worked even with a 1 seed

BYU would've been ranked 2nd or 3rd in the Big Ten wire to wire, maybe jumped above Illinois at some points. Purdue is the only team above them in net right now but Illinois is in front of them in Kenpom.

This exactly. It's completely irrational.

We played Houston three times and they were top 3 every game.

How about next year some of these JV conference teams play KU or Houston 3 times for us and we'll beef up the non conf a little to even it out.

I'd say UCONN owes us a return visit in the big xii big east showdown. Will that happen, **** no they'll be playing Arizona.

The whole emphasis on strength of noncon schedule over strength of overall schedule is embarrassingly stupid.

ISU's overall strength of schedule is greater than UNC's, but UNC gets the 1 seed over us because the noncon portion of their weaker schedule was tougher than ours? Are you kidding me??

It's hard to believe a committee of persons who work in higher education could come up with such ridiculous logic.
Higher Ed is now about feelings, emotion, and individual “truths” so this passes for logic now.

Strong disagree, you have a bunch of G5 teams and then maybe BYU, your team is good enough to beat all of them. Yeah nothing is guaranteed, Duke lost to freeking Mercer, but your path is extremely winnable
To sweet 16 should be doable...

But it is by far the toughest region.

2 teams from last years final 4, 4 conference tournament champs, non of which were some ******* team like NC State that had a fluke run.

4 of the top 10 Ken Pom teams...

Folks on the UConn boards are freaking livid asking why as the number 1 overall seed they were given arguably the top 2nd, 3rd and 4th seed.

I don't know how we get the final #2 seed (#8) and get in the same bracket as the #1, #1 UCONN, in the East, but wth. Meh, by now.

We are used to it. Might as well win it all!

If non-con strength of schedule is going to be an issue, then we should be playing teams like Drake, UNI, or Creighton every year instead of Prairie View A&M

I mean the dumb thing about it is it wouldnt even have to be that.

We could replace the 4 300-level buy games with 5 teams at the 200-level like Green Bay\New Hampshire and suddenly our NCSOS number would move up higher while not actually being any more challenging. Its why the metric is a dumb one.

It’s the small portion of our fanbase…everything is a screw job and every media outlet wakes up everyday trying to screw the Cyclones over. If we won a National championship there would be a thread about how the pregame shows didn’t talk about us enough. It’s exhausting.
If every team we were to face was a wheelchair team .... they'd still ***** and freak out. "But they have new wheel chairs and don't have to run the court!"

Most years we get into tournaments with good teams and Iowa is usually ok.

like next year we play in Maui for example

We got put in a tournament that didn’t end up having great teams aside from us; we got matched up with DePaul which is garbage; Iowa sucked, out of our control. What does scheduling one more neutral game against a P6 team really matter? The committee went out of its way to make sure they wouldn’t face heat from media and psycho blue blood fans. Its ******** plain and simple.
we could have scheduled in the 200 to 300 range instead so many sub 300
