Great group of players whose impact will be remembered forever. I mean look Lafester and others that come back and the love shown to them - I think the current players see that and understand what a special place this is.

Nothing better than to first congratulate Monte, Naz, and Matt on going to the NCAA Tournament all four years of their career!! Thanks for all the memories, excitement you've brought CycloneNation, and beyond. Deonte, one of our most unique players to have played here, congrats! Bowie, and Holden have to be tickled to be going to the NCAA tournament. Not sure if either of them have gone before.

On a side note: while this thread is about this year and these seniors, my mind keeps wandering to the thought of who will carry the torch going forward. Yes, we'll see more good players come and go, but who will be better ambassadors of CycloneNation than Niang and Naz have been? Monte and Matt, too. So connected, positive, vocal, proud, humble, appreciative of their time here. Most of all, LEADERS on and off the floor. I really do believe they treasure playing for the name on the front of their jersey. Stinson, Tinsley, Fizer, ....just to name a few were stars here, but did they embrace playing here and have the connection to the degree these guys have had? I suppose they did. I've probably just forgotten and the present guys are easier to keep in view. Guess I should trust that its not just their character and personalities but the environment and program support that future ISU players will embrace as well. Feels weird to say that we will not have any four-year Cyclone players on the team next year. Donovan and Nick are our upperclassman. Can they LEAD a roster of young pups?

It's a special group. They'll be remembered for being a part of a 6 year NCAA streak, the longest consecutive ranked streak in school history, 2 Big 12 tournament titles, 2 Sweet 16's, etc.

But I'm really appreciative of the other things they brought. They've always had time for fans and have really embraced being at Iowa State. Any time they showed up at the Capital City League they would sign countless autographs and take pictures with every kid that wanted one. The 4 seniors that have been here more than 2 years were on the coaches show last week. Monte and Deonte were on first and someone called and asked what they wanted to do after basketball. Monte said he wanted to help Flint and raise money for cancer research. Deonte said that he wanted to buy houses he had lived in and fix them up for people to live in and he wanted to have a family and be a dad. I have no doubt that all of them will be successful and we will be proud that they went to Iowa State.

The most successful class in school history?

A great group of hard working guys that took their responsibilities as an ISU MBB very seriously. They can't pass on their experience and talent, but I'm hopeful they've shown the young guys how to win.

I LOVE that we're sending off so many 4 year seniors. Nothing more gratifying to me than to watch these guys come in as freshman and watch them grow over 4 short years into the decent young men they are. The basketball success is an afterthought knowing what good people these seniors are.

Also Stu.
Another question - will a fifth senior start in place of Young, and which one will it be?

My guess is 'no', because A . it's too big of a game for us, and B. Holden and Bowie can't both be the 5th senior starter, so why mess with it?

Our program has been filled with guys like these through the years. Social media, 247 sports, etc... have merely accentuated this current crop. Oh and all the winning. I'm not worried about the next group of great young leaders as I think they are already in the fold and will develop before our eyes. Not sure there is a Niang among them, but he was really, really special.

I know. It probably won't happen. Last year it was a moot point - all three seniors were starters. But two years ago it was fun seeing Edozie get the nod.

On Senior Night we ceremoniously pass the torch from one generation of players to the next. Our seniors became our friends, great players, and the embodiment of the name Cyclone. Saying goodbye to our brothers is never easy but with gratitude, Cyclone Nation lives on. With Solomon, Jackson, Babb, and a great 2017 class the future looks bright.

Our seniors left the next generation an incredible legacy. Job well done.
