A) no one is sayng that DM isn't a great event. It doesn't take 31,000 students, though. There should be enough students to do all events.

B) If I can drive an hour each way, deal with parking and the related hassles for each game, all while working full time, being immensely involved in community projects, have actual stresses, like a mortgage and car payments, and full price tickets, I think some kids can walk or take the bus a few blocks to hilton to enjoy their $4 tickets. You know what - I don't usually complain about all of the above because I love going to games. I love it. In 5-10 years those students who missed will realize how easy they had it.

and let me add - I have turned down jobs in areas that would prohibit me from going to all the football games or basketball games due to time and distance. So excuses don't really work to me.

Are you serious? I like Iowa State athletics, too, but that's taking it to a new level.

Something about flag guy

I made the trek back to Ames for my annual game with the family for TCU. I was up in the literal top row when flag guy started his run.

I said "oh flag guy" and was about to make some smart *** comment, not because I have anything against flag guy, but I've been conditioned by CF to dislike him.

Before I could the lady next to me told me it was her son.

I more dislike the ar-tards who stand in the isle while he makes his rounds. Makes every usher sweat bullets watching grandma and her twelve 2 year olds orbiting her clogging up the isle like an artery while flag guy is sprinting around.

Im a student, I understand why the students cant or wont come. The dance marathon comments need to stop, that is an amazing organization. But in the first few games there were hundreds of students that got turned away for those games, in the freezing cold. Next year there will be a new system in place that will help fill all the seats. Students are also very busy, cut us kids a break.

This is a ******** excuse. We turned away students twice (thats 2 times), and the amount of students was NOWHERE near a hundred. In fact, we probably let in a few hundred more than we are legally allowed to. If you have a problem getting into any game not named Iowa/Kansas, you come talk to me. I'll get you in, because 99% of the time there will be open seats.

Woof, glad that wasn't me. I know I would have been ripping on him.

I believe my daughter was working helping pay her way through ISU. She has only been to one ISU sporting event in 4 years as she is working almost every weekend and many weekday nights So don't get too down on the students for not showing up. She did however share with me Bob Huggins stopped at West Towne Pub Tuesday and she waited his table and he insisted she sit and talk with him. She said he talked about his wife and daughter, his career and was very nice. After he had asked her name and was getting ready to leave he told her she could pick up 5 tickets in her name at will call at Hilton. Not sure what she did with the tickets I think she was working.

Students did well tonight. Since we can't complain about students: are we spending less on halftime shows this year?
What, are you tired of watching crappy tumblers for the 5th time? Oh yeah, I am too...

In the ADs defense, since the students only come once every five games it gives them a chance to watch that fantastic show. Give 'em a break!

Good for your daughter if she's actually paying tuition/fees as she goes but I bet 90% of the student population relies on student loans to pay for school. They are not all working at McDonald's every single game day. That said, great crowd last night, hope it's packed for Okie St.
