It was sad when the commenter said we have a great rivalry with UNI.

Agree.... but sadly it's the truth. It is a rivalry..... but should be a yearly beatdown.

Also said in another thread earlier this week I never like the idea of playing UNI. They play with an extra chip on their shoulders against us that other FCS teams don't, and because we always play extra conservative first game of the season, the games end up being much closer than they should. Trust me - I would have loved for this game to have been decided after the 1Q, but that's never how these games work out.

It works that way for almost every other decent team against FCS opponents. Why can't it happen here?

I don’t know, I think that loss propelled us. Sneaking a win against FCS may not have the same effect.

Hopefully Campbell can make it feel like a loss to them, but actually losing would have hurt us tangibly.

Never understood the love for Manning. He would probably be decent coaching our TEs and that’s about it

He can churn things up for numbers but the ‘just get what’s there‘ just doesn’t happen for him. Like he needs to confuse the opponent instead of just beating them.

Well maybe a good thing out of this will be that our players will hear for the entire week how they stunk and can't beat iowa.

It's concerning to me that Hall had no running lanes between the tackles and outside of a couple option pitches, Manning makes no adjustments to designate the run to the boundaries. Tackling was suspect and we as the "#7" team in college football just beat lowly UNI by 6 points and was +2 in the turnover margin. I have a really hard time accepting what I just watched.

Because nobody else decides to play as conservatively as we do against these opponents. I don't know why they're so afraid to turn the page in the playbook - after Campbell being here for year 6 it's not like all our opponents don't know what's in it by now.

I'd say UNI is a better coached team that is custom built to give a conservative in-state rival a handful.
