The one thing that ISU absolutely, 100% could NOT do is lose this game. They hit the bare minimum.

They clearly didn’t earn the #7 ranking, BUT they didn’t lose. If they fancy themselves a playoff team, they have an almost impossibly long way to go, but the door didn’t shut at least.

Who's our week 1 opponent next year?

(checking ....)

Not UNI?

Phew!

Doesn't matter who we play, it will either be a nail biter like today or a game like Louisiana last year. Seems like that is the way CMC teams roll in September. I shouldn't be upset considering what ISU used to be and I will always trade a September loss for a conference championship game. But come on......we are ranked in the top #10 to start the year. Let's coach and play like it instead of playing not to lose.

Because nobody else decides to play as conservatively as we do against these opponents. I don't know why they're so afraid to turn the page in the playbook - after Campbell being here for year 6 it's not like all our opponents don't know what's in it by now.

No I think Iowa this week totally won’t watch film from last season and prep for general trends.

The O line was nothing like it's preseason press. I'm more skeptical that we've turned that corner after all. Nobody in red overpowered anyone in white. Not that corner, either.
I’m with you. Why change the lineup from 2020???

Yep, they are truly awful. How do you go 59 minutes and THEN lose a feed lol

You only have to look at this weekends tv schedule to see why the Big 12 is an absolute failure and why Texas and Oklahoma bolted. Most of the Big 12 games are only available via an online service. Pollard should have called UNI to borrow the MVC TV contract to get the game on a real TV station.

A silver lining (or at least gray lining) is ISU played as conservative and vanilla on offense as possible, defensive effort was mostly good with exception of one horrendous D-series to fall behind 7-0, still got a W.

In plenty of years, ISU would've found a way to lose that game.

So, there's that!

It genuinely feels like a part of the problem. Iowa State should be coming into this game with swagger and come out swinging. Put UNI away in the first 10 minutes like most FBS schools do against in-state FCS teams. They have better players at almost every spot across the field. But they (coaches, mostly) give UNI too much credit as a program in comparison to what we believe is an upper half B12 program and we end up with this year in and year out.

Tremendous respect for Will McLevain and UNI overall. Outplayed us for the most part when you account for the overall talent level on both rosters.

McLevain is a great competitor and probably played the best game of anyone on the field today honestly. I know Campbell loves that kid, and I can see why.

As for ISU.... we will need an almost miraculous improvement from this week to next if we want to even be in the game.

Uni fans don’t like him because he’s bad. He has had his two best games against Iowa State. They all want the backup transfer from Michigan state because he makes all the throws.

uni did what they do in this series today. They played gutsy and today they made one play, which rose missed the tackle on.

next week will be a completely different game. Indiana was only hyped because of a half against Ohio state that they had a big lead and coasted on.

People can call my post dumb but a top tier coach can coach a team at the same level 12 games a year, not just in October. Today was embarrassing. And I love coach Campbell to death.

Eh lots of elite coaches have weird trends.

Nearly each year at tOSU Urban Meyer got rung up or just had a bad game vs. inferior teams.
