This was the first game in 12 years since my dog passed away this winter. Whenever I’d get stressed during games he’d come over and lay next to the couch for me to rub his belly to de-stress, sometimes for hours straight. Didn’t really notice during the game because I don’t really get outwardly stressed, but I’m definitely feeling it in my neck and shoulders that I was just stressed all game and couldn’t de-stress by rubbing his belly.

Robins, Iowa
Offensive line, defensive line, and Manning/Purdy were the most disappointing things to me today. LBs were fine (aside from Rose's missed tackle). Receivers were kind of NA (as I think the play calling was trash). Secondary was okay though our corners were beat a couple of times. But the offensive and defensive line performances were trash.

If we can't push UNI at the line, how are we going to push Iowa? I just hope JR Singleton gets a lot more playing time as he was (easily) the best lineman I saw on either side of the ball.

But hey, our STs weren't a dumpster fire.

I will be interested to see what Jeff Woody has to say on FART this week. He is usually pretty insightful on what went wrong. I wonder if the lack of contact in spring practice has something to do with the line play.

Please can someone who says this explain what we have to show this year that we didn't last year? Can you tell me why it's better to not show a deep passing game and open things up all year off of it? This is the most "cope" thing I see every year and it makes no sense logically.

Route trees matter, blocking schemes matter, motivation matters. We didn’t use the Tightends at all. You don’t think that will change next week?

Really appreciated my pup hanging out with me during the game. Thoughts and prayers with ya as you continue to deal with the loss of a member of the family <3

ISU looked like a team playing with an "under the radar" mentality, as opposed to a "we belong in the CFP" mentality. Offense/offensive line needs to be much better in year six.
Need to bring some swagger and confidence to these kind of games going away.

We are 1-0, though, and a great showing next weekend makes the sour of this game go away in an instant.

Random question: does Iowa State have a medical tent on the sideline like I see on tv for other games?

No excuses, they should have played better.

Fortunately, under Campbell the first game has almost no bearing on the rest of the season.

UNI almost always had 11 men within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage and we never made them pay. Why not stretch them out and then try running the ball?

I believe someone asked about this in CMC's post game presser.... the question was about how UNI was stacking the box against the run all day and do you think that's something you could exploit.... and Matt basically chuckled and said something like.... "yeah, you would think so, right?".
