Although there have been some very suspicious outcomes this season, no way these games are rigged by Vegas bookies or the Big 12 front office, no way. BUT, if the fix was ever on I think it's high time to throw the Cyclones a bone tonight!

There are a lot of reasons why Iowa State winning tonight makes sense.

-Senior Night
-WVU travelling halfway across country for the 2nd time in 3 days
-Hilton Magic
-Iowa State is most likely the better team

Our eyes are telling us a different story right now, as we watch these guys plod and struggle lately, but this is absolutely a game we should be favored in, and win.

Is it ok to consider this a must win game?
It's really big considering a win most probably keeps us from having to play Wednesday in KC and, since I don't believe everyone saying a 7 seed is our floor, might be needed to keep us from the dreaded 8-9 game.

The 8/9 seed wouldn't be that bad this year. There really isn't a true top in Men's NCAAB this season.

Odds are we have already played and beaten a couple of #1 seeds

Settles shouldn't be allowed to call ISU games. Idc what he says now, or if he's changed now, you know that as a Hawk he has no lost love. These guys should be impartial of the games they call. Not sure how that's even possible in the case of Cy-Hawk.

Side note: When did Settles graduate from the Big 10 Network?

He's still on the BTN.

I was counting missed layups, calling it the Saved Bunnies count. first half last game count was 6. Second half was at 7 before I stopped counting, because we weren't getting in the paint.

I predict more of that in this game, Bobby will deny us inside scoring.

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Now that we have that out of the way, let's make the easy shots tonight!

Depends on what your end goal is I guess.

They likely will make the Ncaa tournament with a loss. They are still likely to avoid a Wednesday game in KC with a loss.

I'd say a win tonight does much more for the team mentally, and from a moral standpoint, than for their resume or standings.
They need to win to keep pace with TCU. They also need to avoid being caught by Oklahoma State (7-9) who would have us in a tiebreaker

We'll likely know if we are playing on Wednesday in KC or not if two things happen tonight:

  • ISU over WVU
  • Baylor over OSU
If those things happen ISU would be 9-9 at worst headed to KC. OSU would be 8-10 at best headed to KC. WVU, OSU, TT, and OU would all be locked into 7-10 seeds. If ISU and OSU both win we have to hope TT beats OSU on Saturday in Lubbock (assuming we lose to Baylor).

So...pray for those two things to happen.

I put another 50 dollars against ISU. As much as it pains me to say it, I'm up 500 dollars betting against ISU during this stretch. And if we win, I'm glad to lose 50
I have cleaned up the last month betting against us. Betting against us on the road has been like stealing money.

Would there also be a scenario where TCU finishes 0-2 or 1-1, and as long as we don't finish 0-2 we'd stay in front of them? They are home vs Texas and @ OU. Could definitely see the potential for them to lose one or both.

More than likely West Virginia came to Iowa after playing at Kansas rather than flying back to Morgantown.

If:
  • ISU beats WVU and loses to Baylor
  • Texas beats TCU and TCU beats OU (or vice versa/just need one TCU loss)
  • Baylor beats OSU and OSU beats TT (or vice versa/just need one OSU loss)
Then:
  • Iowa State is 5 seed in KC

You would think, although our guys went to Columbia, MO on a Saturday, back to Ames, then flew to Lubbock all within like 24-48 hours.
