I don't know anyone's age on here but I almost guarantee that this is a generational thing. Outside of Morgan and McDermott's tenure, every other ISU coach in my lifetime has made the tourney with at least some regularity.
Did they? How many times did Johnny go to the tournament 4 times in a row? Floyd? Eustachy? The only person that did it at that level of constantly was Hoiberg. So in the 40 years of ISU we have had exactly one period of time where we made 4 NCAA Tourneys in a row.

And Hoiberg's first two tourney teams had some rough starts in the non-conference with some really talented players.

Since when does "some regularity" equal exactly "at least 4 in a row"?

Seriously, your riding (yes I mean riding, not reading) game is off the charts.

We are behind talent wise the last two season versus most league teams. Therefore, we lost more of a step than they have, and it shows on the court. Simple as that. Lipsey IS a freshman. Guarding Big 12 guards & playing in the most physical league takes its toll. We had a couple more miss games this season than last due to injury. Our mid-majors are seeing the difference playing in this league versus their prior experiences. It's taken its toll.

Otz & the team exceeded expectations half way through the season & this increased everyone's expectations the rest of the way. It just sucks considering how well they played that it couldn't be sustained. Limping in to the end of the season, I just hope they get collected & catch fire some & have a last push for a win or more during the dance.
Yes,this team has exceeded expectations. I think they can still do some damage.

Because that was the initial conversation between Alarson and me which you commented on.

Johnny went 6 times in 15 years
Floyd went 3 times in 5 years
Larry went 2 times in 5 years
Wayne went once in 3 years
McDermott 0 for 4 years
Fred went 4 times in 5 years.
Prohm went 3 times in 6 years.
TJ will be 2 for 2.

One coach has done it more than 60% of the time over at least 5 years.

I'm glad we are probably in, but if we're just gonna drop the first game put someone in that deserves it. I saw some life in the second half, but we can't close a game right now. We are afraid of the paint, our leading scorer doesn't any more, and our point guard doesn't need to be defended, so that puts 2 on Gabe. Grill is hurt, and frustrated. Man, this started out with so much promise.

That makes a little more sense. PA guy really screwed up announcing all those.
Yeah my reading on it goes as follows:

WVU player got an offensive foul = our ball. Was reviewed and upgraded to an ejection. Then we got two technical fouls, meaning we lost that possession we just gained. Plus all the FTs.
