I hate to rag on Lipsey because he does a lot of good things but I don’t think it can be understated how bad having your primary ball handler being absolutely no threat to score outside 5 feet screws up our offense.
Does it get any better next year? Williams is not really a scorer either. Hopefully Tamin improves his ability to score from mid range and 3 pt range for next year.

I'm not convinced the talent thing is true. Blowing a 23 point second halfead to Tech, losing our composure twice now against WV and OSU, and getting beat at home by a bad OU team is more between our players' ears and making coaching adjustments. Those things have all been abysmal.
OU is not bad, they lost some really close games in the Big 12 and beat Arkansas and hammered Bama. OUs issue is they play in the Big 12. There are no bad teams in the Big 12, we don't have any bad losses in this league. The bottom of this league would finish mid level in most other leagues.

I think just taking the pressure off can help and hopefully the newbies can be reliable scorers that would also help a lot.

I also will die on the hill that Lipsey has an offensive game in there somewhere. He's got good natural touch and is a reliable free throw shooter. Hopefully it gets applied to finding shots in traffic.

This team can’t shoot, and it won’t get better next year. Milan can shoot, but we lose Gabe, so those cancel each other out.

We really only need a transfer shooter and transfer 5, not 5 transfers like the last 2 years. We’ll be pretty attractive with making the tourney in both of TJs seasons and the #8 recruiting class coming in.

Johnny went 6 times in 15 years
Floyd went 3 times in 5 years
Larry went 2 times in 5 years
Wayne went once in 3 years
McDermott 0 for 4 years
Fred went 4 times in 5 years.
Prohm went 3 times in 6 years.
TJ will be 2 for 2.

One coach has done it more than 60% of the time over at least 5 years.
Orr was here 14 years, not 15. He had to do a major rebuild, a program with zero history. You can throw out the first 4 years. After he turned it, he made the tournament 6 of his last 9. Would have been 7 had his star center not been hit by train. Plus, he stepped down and didn't get to coach his most veteran team, one with 7 seniors and would have made another tournament if he got a chance to coach those guys. Plus, Orr had to coach in an extremely tough league.

OU is the most favorable matchup athletically for ISU but still had better athletes. Holmes had a guy on him often that had a foot on him and could move.

That said, last night's version of ISU beats OU Saturday imo.

The good news is, after Saturday none of this matters. Big 12 Tournament and NCAA Tournament are brand new seasons; everyone is 0-0.
yah i keep telling myself this

just get through baylor. it is what it is. accept the loss thats coming and move on.

were going to be a 6 seed MAYBE 7 seed in the NCAA.

Yay!!!! We got to watch them continue to lose. How fun.

Hopefully we get out of the Big 12 grind and get a team like Iowa, Miami, Uconn, or Missoiri. I'm confident we can play with anyone once we get out of the Big 12.

And we would have killed for a 6 or 7 seed coming into this year where few thought we would even make the tournament. Have to think the team will be rejuvenated for a clean slate as well.

Saw the box this morning, looks like Holmes and Gabe had solid games and we still lost. What a shocker, this team is toast and this coaching staff should be held accountable for this trainwreck.

Absolutely unacceptable!!!!
How would you like to see them held accountable?

I keep wanting to believe that there's life yet, but I don't know. Opponents know how to guard us, and know how to get us in foul trouble. If definitely could be like last yr. in KC as in one and done. We need an upgrade in offensive players and/or offensive coaching (note its not TJ running the offense) but I'm still upbeat about the defense (take away some unfortunate fouling)

Damn, can’t even find joy in a sweet 16, what will it take for you to find happiness?
I'm just stating facts. We lucked out in our first round opponent. We also faced a way overranked Wisconsin team with a bust prospect in Davis who is barely in the G-League today after being a top first round pick in the draft.
The first team we faced a team with a pulse, we got run out of the gym.

Orr was loved but he finished over .500 twice in 14 years in conference play. Won 3 NCAA tournament games in 14 years.

Way up there
Starting to feel very Prohm-ish. Tj raised the floor of the program by focusing on defense but like Steve, game day isn't his strength. Hopefully it's just a symptom of a limited roster but big 12 coaches have us figured out and they are coaching circles around TJ.

The Jaz injury was a blessing in disguise bc it threw a curve ball to other teams who had figured out how to shut us down last year. Once he returned, we went right back to what we did last year. The results speak for themselves. It's just really tough to figure out why we abandoned the smaller lineup, it really feels like we're trying really hard not to lose rather than trying to win.

I love how people downplay Orr's impact on our program. He also beat tons of ranked teams at Hilton, including a lot of great non conference teams. He created Hilton Magic and an exciting brand of basketball. His 93 team was really really good, they lost a lot of very close games in conference on the road but would blow out those same teams in Hilton. They lost to UCLA in the first round, Loren Meyer went 0-8, he missed at point blank range. He hits just a couple of those, they are moving on, He also made the finals in KC twice and one year we got completely screwed at the end of the game. Orr chased the officials off the floor.
