Can just see MC giving a pep talk in August to pro FB athletes after getting their asses handed to them in a pre season game. This is ridiculous.

If the big time, big payday could pull Hoiberg away from his hometown school and alma matera then I would guess that it could do the same for someone not as much invested. Like I said, we'll see. Money and prestige are big influences. Has to actually get offered the job first though.

Hoiberg always stated his goal was the NBA. Totally apples and oranges.

An initial zoom interview is a long way from being offered the job. Just don’t see CMC being the Bears number one candidate.
Having been a bears fan for 40+ years I can assure you that trying to understand that organization and the decisions they make is impossible. There is no way he is their first choice, which is probably why he is :)

Ha, I’d forgot about Holtz. I wonder how Petrino ever got in position to get an NFL Head Coach job. What college head coach was successful in the NFL? Harbaugh, who else?
Barry Switzer won a Super Bowl (by default)

Bill Walsh obviously is a legendary NFL coach. He coached at Stanford first.

Hoiberg was close with The Bulls’ GM Jerry Krause.

Krause wanted to blow up the team after Michael and Hoiberg made Millions as the fall guy.

You're about 20 years off. Krause wanted to blow up the team after Michael and TIM FLOYD made millions as the fall guy.

Hoiberg was close with Gar Forman and wanted out of Ames badly.

Aren’t you confusing Floyd with Hoiberg? Krause brought Floyd in to rebuild after Jordan. Hoiberg came much later and was friends with John Paxson. In fact, Floyd was the 14th coach in Bulls history, Hoiberg was somewhere in the mid-twenties.

Maybe he doesn’t like the way college has become with nil and paying players, the way the sec and Bigten are going to end up trashing the sport for everyone outside of 20 teams. Or maybe he thinks he has taken Isu to a level he doesn’t see getting any better and wants to walk away on a high note? I don’t think he gets the job but this probably is not going to help recruiting for sure.
LOL I really don't think a coaching rumor is going to hurt recruiting after the yr we came off. If it turns true and he gets hired then cross that bridge.

How did that work out for him?
He's loving it completing the coaching circle by coming back to Lincoln where his Grandpa started it all ( Or some such nonsense).
I would have taken that severence ck though.
