If a lack of length cost us this game, it didn't manifest itself in the box score. We had the same number of rebounds as Baylor and three more offensive rebounds.

I have no illusions about catching up to KU. They are irrelevant to me. What I had hoped was that we could gap teams like KSU, OU and UT this year. That's why losing the last two winnable games is disappointing. Missed opportunity.

They made a big deal about Ejim's scoring consistency before the 48 pt TCU game. Ever since - very inconsistent. Awful turnovers today. Even saw Fred did the foot stomp after one of Georges' turnovers. We will beat Baylor if we face them in the Big 12 tourney.

So you're saying Ejim and Niang going a combined 4-25 had nothing to do with Baylor's length. Ok. And, who was our answer to defend Jefferson?

Nader plays on the perimeter. He averaged five rebounds on a crappy team. He's shorter than Melvin and not near the jumper. McKay should help. We need a couple more like him.

Nader had to play on the perimeter and be the center of the NIU offense. He can be used much better in our offense.

So Nader is not 6'7" with a 7'2" wingspan? From my understanding Nader will play the 3, and possibly slide to the 4 when needed (not that it mean much in Fred's system, other than on defense). Should be able to help with length disrupting passing lanes and on close outs. Who knows how good he'll be, or if McKay will be better? Length =/= shot blocking.

No. He's 6'6 and slightly shorter than Ejim. He was criticized by Northern Illinois writers and bloggers for his lack of effort on the glass.

This team's best win might still be Michigan (if not, at OSU I guess).

Good thing on that is I don't believe they were ranked then, and they may not be ranked when the Big 12 tourney starts, so maybe they'll start to play well again.

As I've been very capable of pointing out the deficiencies of these teams under Fred (they've been consistent at least--poor shot selection, inconsistent/undisciplined D and rebounding, etc), anyone ever wonder what this place would have been like when ISU lost during their 2-year Big 12 championship run?

Good to know. But also, effort =/= length. I'm confident that Fred and Doc will coach him up to his potential.

What an ugly stretch of games. This team just didn't look ready to play @WVU, @KSU, or @Baylor. And even though we got the W, it was far too close @TCU. I've seen too much of this to believe it is just a couple of bad breaks. Sure, we took care of WVU, UT, and TT at home in that stretch, but unfortunately for us B12 and NCAA tourney games aren't played at Hilton. If we want to be a contender for a conference title, we need to be able to go on the road and get a couple W's against bubble teams, we can't just expect L's from every road game against a team with a pulse.

Thankfully NCAA games aren't road games where one team has a clear home court advantage (in most cases). Both teams will be away from campus, sleeping in hotels, dealing with distractions. ISU did just fine in the tourney in Hawaii.

This team is starting to resemble zero coaching. We basically go out there and hope our offense and talent can carry us to victory. Tonight was embarrassing.

Saturday is a must win now...if we lose that at home to end the year you can bet the house on a one and done in KC

It's amazing what a couple of decent years do to people at ISU. This is what, 3rd tourney appearance in a row? How many times has that happened at ISU? It's amazing how many people here think ISU has always been this basketball powerhouse and we can't understand why ISU is still building. You are probably the same people mocking the Hawkeyes for unrealistic expectations. The Jeckyll and Hyde mentality on this board is frightening.

Where were we picked by most pundants to finish this season in the Big 12? Making the tournament at all is still a big deal at ISU.
