For some reason, this reminds me of the football fans who think "as long as we go 6-6 and make that bowl game." We should aim for better than just making the tourney.
Only 2nd loss, but the biggest flaws underlying the program up to this point of the season are starting to become exposed. Fred's got some more coaching to do.
Who cares if we are an 8 seed? I care. You start off ******* 14-0 and think an damn 8 seed is acceptable? These are not the years it would be cool to make the postseason. We've been in the last 2 seasons, now is the year to finally make some damn progress and an 8 seed is cool with you? You don't get relevant by being an 8 seed every year. Maybe a Sweet 16 or Elite 8 isn't something everyone wants out of their program, but I'll be damned if if I'm ever happy with an 8 seed.
To say we were never "in" the Oklahoma game is laughable. We were winning with just a couple minutes left to play. And keep in mind that Oklahoma is now ranked, and Kansas will be back in the top 10 as they're finally getting things together.
Oh no everyone! How will you crap on Clones21 when he makes sense? This is my new favorite story line of the year. The tension. The drama. The hypocrisy. HOW WILL IT END?

Anyone else think we are pretty overrated? Michigan and BYU really aren't good. The Iowa win was nice and easily our best win. Close game with a good but not great Boise State team, and so far in Big 12 play we haven't really done anything that last years team wouldn't do. Not saying we aren't good, but we don't belong near the top 10.
Lost to good team on the road and to ranked team that we don't matchup with at all. Both nights horrible shooting. Sky is falling burn everything. I'd guess no reasonable person had us picked to be 14-2 at this point. Throw Ning under the bus, throw Mel out, throw Thomas off the team. Ignore facts and panic.
If I told you only one stat . . . that we won the turnover battle against KU 24-8 . . . you would assume we won the game.

The "sliver lining" element is this: Iowa State could very well be 10-6 right now.
Probably no business pulling out the UNI game. BYU was obviously tight. Got a little late luck vs. Iowa. U-M game required a comeback, as did Boise State, Akron was hardly domination and ISU almost seemed to want to blow a big lead at Tech.
But parts of legit tournament teams' resumes are built on pulling out games you probably could have lost, and maybe should have lost. I'm trying not to take that for granted. Plus, the Baylor game went well.
The symptoms of falling into a mid-pack Big 12 team are apparent (digging holes, depth issues, getting pushed around by more physical/taller teams, 3-point shooting woes negating the "mismatch" advantage), but I've seen plenty of seasons when a lot of those "either-or" games went the wrong way.
But ooh wee, coach, those last two games were brutal to watch.
And I hate losing to Kansas. Always.
